Longest shot with a revolver?

140 yards on a whitetail doe. I had hit the deer at 45 yards and it went to the end of the field and stopped. So I took that shot. Normally my self imposed limit is 50-60 yards and I prefer closer. On deer or hogs. That gun, a scoped Ruger Super Redhawk with a 9.5" barrel, would hit softballs easily at 100 yards.

With a revolver it was about 60 yards. Ruger Blackhawk with a 10 inch barrel.

First big bore pistol I ever shot. 3 screw Blackhawk with 10.5" barrel. 44mag.
I have a Blackhawk with 4 5/8" barrel now in 45 LC. Blood trailing gun

Back in my IHMSA days, I shot a lot of those rams at 200 meters (220 yds) using my 8" Dan Wesson in 357 mag and a 7-1/2" Ruger Super Blackhawk in 44 mag. I can't recall shooting anything living with my revolvers that far, but a lot of things died between 100-200 yards.

100 to 110 yards on a Pronghorn…..my first buck Pronghorn!
Model 629 - open sights using my 265 gr. Cast Bullets!
Other notables:
A Nutria at night at about 65-70 yards - one shot, a 4" Model 28 shooting 148 gr. WC's - DRT!
A Jack Rabbit @ about 80 yrds - the previous mentioned S&W 629. Though this time my cast 218 gr. SWC light load…. another one shot DRT!
There are many others……but, these come to mind! memtb

There used to be a tall RR trestle across this river, that had 4 railroad worker safety platforms, spaced along the span on the downstream side. Many a sassy carp or sucker met there demise under the hammer of a few Ruger Blackhawk 30 Carbine, 41 and 44 magnums , off that trestle. If a guy could see e'm, in the low waters of late Summer, they were in range, 75 to 100 yards, no trouble. This was Lonesome Dove shooting, single action, cowboy stuff, 10 years before the movie on hbo ever came around.

I forgot about jack rabbits or prairie dogs. .41 mag on prairie dog at 110 yards. But that was as much luck as anything. The guy shooting with me said I bet you can't hit that PD with your pistol. I estimated hold over and the prairie dog exploded. I won't claim skill on that one.
