I would be so lost without my EDC knife. When I am out hunting usually have a small pack. That's where the skinning knife goes. And it's a good one so can generally get the job done by itself.I'm planning a small utility knife instead of a trademark hunting knife that I see many of you carry when out hunting. Just want to go light and my philosophy is to carry as less of a load specially around the waist as possible. Already feeling the weight of my 12 pound double on long walks. Am I missing something, please educate me..
Amen to that sir!Everyone hunts different but I don't want to try breaking down a big axis, hog or mulie with my Swiss army knife unless I absolutely had to.

A good sharp - small knife on the hip weighs nothing. And so versatile. Boy Scouts 101.well a pock knife is better then the
front sight of a old Savage 99 but not up to the job for a grriz or buf or a moose but in a tight spot will still work do not ask me how I know about the savage sight working a old case muskrat would work good
Perhaps, but there is always the opportunity to clarify it.Yes, he's probably embarrassed about asking this question by now. Hopefully, he's learned something about properly asking a question. There is a right and wrong way of asking.
Why did my mind go straight to flint before you clarified? That would be a lesson not soon forgotten. Why take a knife? I forgot mine and had to field dress a buck with broadhead. That was about 40+ years ago. Yes it was steel not flint. Now I have prob 3 on me hunting. Gerber tool, old Buck fixed blade and buck folding one.
Or, carry a smaller, lighter knife! If the weight of a pocket knife is too much for you, try some time in the gym. (Not being rude, being honest)
Are you really a man if you don't
