Can only keep one rifle what do you choose?

For me, that ends up being a .30 caliber magnum, specifically a .300 Win Mag.

I've owned flatter-shooting cartridges, softer-shooting cartridges, and more interesting cartridges. Some were more efficient. Some grouped smaller. But when you start talking about one rifle for everything from deer-sized game to elk, moose, black bear, long-range steel, and even the occasional "what if" hunt, the .300 Win Mag keeps crawling back to the front of the safe.

264wm mod70 as it's been my favorite since I was 11 (10 actually as it was 5 months before I turned 11). Killed lots of p-dogs with it.

Many years ago, 264 Wm

Mid life, I would have said 300 Wm

Now enjoying retirement, I would pick one of my 22 Creedmores.

LOL….it would be the same rifle that I had when I actually only owned one…Pre-64 Model 70 in 30-06…..I still have it, and the $4.99 Lee Loader that served me so well at the time….

I would take my 375 h&h. I want to hunt more large animals in Africa and buffalo will be in the future, God willing of course. The 375 isn't too much for other smaller stuff, but is the bottom of what os adequate for larger more dangerous animals.

Hmm well that's difficult. For sentimental value my PSS 308 that was gifted to me. Purely on use my newly built 14.7" AR15. I can always build more uppers for it to suit my needs. It's still only one rifle, just more uppers to fit the job lol.

I would have to settle on my Browing 30-06... if forced to keep only one rifle. It's the rifle that harvested my biggest lifetime 10 pointer this past December. My other rifles have plenty on meat in the freezer moments... but can't give up the rifle that brought down the biggest prize!

So one rifle multiple barrels.

I'd add bolts with .223 and magnum bolt faces to expand cartridge compatibility. And, perhaps, use an action with a shorter bolt throw; but the concept of having one SwitchLug rifle is sound.

One rifle, nearly unlimited cartridge choices.
