Anyone else mount their Garmin X1 on a QD Pic mount?

I've got several rifles with lightweight pic-rings attached to the scope. With the QD mount of the Garmin you can swap it between guns or tripods quickly. It's pretty handy to have instant data straight in front of your face.

Kind of bounches around too. I don't think they were build for that, but what do I know.

I have seen setups on the sides, but not like yours. I guess it boils down to personal preferences.
 
See it at PRS events all the time. Not looking for shot to shot but seeing if velocity speeds up over the course of day. Usually, they do it on a prone stage or modified prone.
 
With the QD mount of the Garmin you can swap it between guns or tripods quickly.

Be a good way to check how atmospherics and barrel conditions were affecting velocity over the day/weekend.

I remember seeing Garmin saying the first gen Xero wasn't designed to be weapon mounted and they didn't know what the long-term effects it would have. One of the "added features" in the second gen is that they built it so it could be used mounted on the rifle and handle recoil. Is it really more robust to handle recoil, or is it built the same and this is just a marketing ploy? Who knows.
I haven't seen any complaints about wrecking the first gen Xero from mounting it on a rifle but I haven't gone down that rabbit hole in a while.
 
I tried mounting it off the bottom pic rail that goes off to the side, didn't pick up any shots, so went back to just using the tripod it comes with.
 
Mine would miss an occasional shot when on the tripod. It has not missed a single projectile since mounting it this way on 3 or 4 different guns.

Just in case you didn't already know, Garmin won't warrantee it if it's mounted on a rifle due to the recoil.
