I run Berger's in every rifle I shoot for one simple reason, they shoot better, in some cases way better, than anything else I've tried. Provided that the tips are open, they have proven to be absolutely wicked on critters - nasty wicked.
Some pretty impressive mono's out there that may appeal to the less " specialized " sect.

What "match bullets" do you hunt with?
Before you get defensive, I hunt with 85% match bullets too.

I would have liked to have seen "they have specific use at extended ranges where hunting bullets are less violent as they lose speed"
And also "hypothetically I'm willing to give up an exit wound and hard quartering shots for broad wounding and high margin of error on broadside shots only at long range"
Whichever thing you prefer I don't think there's any excuse for not knowing how you expect your projwctile to cause death. There are literally people who believe that you CANNOT ethically hunt with tipped match style bullets (eldx included) because they fragment but also, at the same time in real life, will tell you that core-lokt, ballistic tip, etc are excellent or superior. Why? Because of the words on the box or because their daddy used them, or they're otherwise more specialer. No way are they constructed to perform the same…

All seriousness ive killed a lot of animals with accubonds, core lokts in the day. I have yet too see any of those 270wsm up too 300 win hit a elk has hard as 230/250 a tips in 30 nosler 30/28 nosler and 300 nmi. 600 too 1300 yards and one up close 70 yards on moose. Moose got up somehow but bullet did its job he was dead man walking. All the elk you felt there nuts rattle

I don't shy away from close range or quartering shot opportunities. Although I have never been in the habit hard quartering shots even with hunting bullets. I find I get an exit until 300 yards or so on whitetails. I use both types but 95% time I'm shooting ELDM for all calibers

Can't answer haha. All bullets have strengths and weaknesses. Few if any "hunting" bullets have the same strengths for terminal efficacy at lower impact velocities at distance that tipped match bullets have, like the eld m and Sierra tmk.
By that same token there are no match bullets that id intentionally shoot a moose in the shoulder with at 50 yards. That sort of thing brings out their weakness more than plays to their strength.
Same reason we don't use flat point solids for long range shooting or varmint bullets for dangerous game stopping rifles.
There is nothing wrong with varmint bullets or solids or match bullets or "hunting" bullets whether soft, bonded, mono….
They are all tools. There are some jobs for which a given tool is better and some for which it is worst (can't find fault with a hammer if using it to shovel your driveway - not the tool for the job)
There really are some kinds of hunting AND some anticipated game size relative to impact velocity where match bullets aren't just adequate, acceptable, or a compromise but are in fact the best tool for the job.

My match bullets identify as hunting bullets. They are the "she/it" for game.
