8 pt Euro mount simmering, mmmmm!
A friend of mine took his 13 year old grand son deer hunting a couple years back. Shot his first buck with a Marlin 336. Only had one side - must have been a tough litter booger taking on the big boys. I did an European (on barn wood) for him and put a nice brass plaque with his name, date and place and the 30/30 case on the board. Told him he would get bigger deer in the future but that one would always be his best. First deer, no matter the size, is always the best. This half rack was cool buck I chased and when I killed him surprised he broke side off. Did not notice since it was fast shot. But found this cool board from barn fire that I used for mount.

I strongly recommend keeping your mouth closed while shaking the brains out. Also, don't use your wife's vacuum.Patience! Assume 8+ hours at simmer. If you let it go to boil, the higher temp will damage the nasal bones, especially the top plate. I change out water at least twice to keep accumulation of grease and fat down in pot. Once lower jaw drops off, you can peel off most meat, cartilage, fat and the brains will get soupy and can be shocked out by just holding rack and snapping it downward with abrupt stop in your hand. Once I get to this point, I let skull dry and harden a bit and then hit it with power washer. Look it over real good to insure all organics are removed and scraped clean. I then dry it real well and use beautician peroxide to whiten up and once I see the "white" I want then stop. I use Lil Skull Hooker products to mount them.
