I also saw a video where a guy was having issues with carbon building in the bolt body, causing light-strikes on primers when running suppressed after a couple rounds. Before you buy the Bergara, checkout post by a member here. He has had an issue with the firing pen hole being to large. FYI

Bergara is aware of the issue and will replace it. The last thread said Bergara used cast bolt shrouds that were brittle. They would crack from back Pressure. I think Bergara will ship a new bolt.
Just don't tell them that you are shooting reloaded ammo. If you tell them that you are S.O.L.
Op had an issue with firing pin hole to big so it is piercing primer causing pressure to push firing pin back far enough to brake the bolt shroud. They sent him a machined bolt shroud and it happened again. He's having to take it to a smith to fix the problem.
Hello all,
I'm just about to purchase a Bergara B14 Hunter in 7mm rem mag. I purchased a 1st generation Vortex Viper PST 4-16x50 FFP that has yet to be used. Needless to say, I'm questioning a few things about it.
Most notably, I am worried about how well it tracks, considering it is a "lower" end scope. Should I just run with it or should I sell and buy another optic? How can I test the tracking capabilities of it to ensure its accuracy?
Thanks in advance.

I've noticed there was primer flow and cratering on my father's begara 300 win mag I assumed the it was due to an over sized firing pin hole. That pretty much confirms it. It doesnt cause issues, you just cant use cratering as a pressure sign because it does it to all of themOp had an issue with firing pin hole to big so it is piercing primer causing pressure to push firing pin back far enough to brake the bolt shroud. Why are you doubting the tracking on it? A PST is a $1,000 scope. That's not what most folks consider a "lower end scope". Mount it and go test it with that target. It's the only way to find out. And If it has a tracking issue, contact Vortex and tell them, and they will send you another one, possibly a GenII model of equal specs.
