Before you buy the Bergara, checkout post by a member here. He has had an issue with the firing pen hole being to large. FYI
Sorry not savvy enough to give a link

I also saw a video where a guy was having issues with carbon building in the bolt body, causing light-strikes on primers when running suppressed after a couple rounds.

Bergara is aware of the issue and will replace it. The last thread said Bergara used cast bolt shrouds that were brittle. They would crack from back Pressure. I think Bergara will ship a new bolt.

Just don't tell them that you are shooting reloaded ammo. If you tell them that you are S.O.L.

Op had an issue with firing pin hole to big so it is piercing primer causing pressure to push firing pin back far enough to brake the bolt shroud. They sent him a machined bolt shroud and it happened again. He's having to take it to a smith to fix the problem.

Blah that sucks. Well at least this OPs vortex will work. Now he just needs to find a good rifle to slap it onto.

Gen 1 PSTs are awesome, I have had a couple, still have 1 - you shouldn’t have any problems and if you do for some reason you will be well taken care of by Vortex.

Wow, I had not heard about that issue. I really like the price point of the Bergara for what it is capable of, considering I am a college student and money is not abundant. I wonder how much the gunsmithing job would be if this were to happen with my rifle? I wonder if it's a "hit or miss" deal with whether the rifle has the issue or not?

I've noticed there was primer flow and cratering on my father's begara 300 win mag I assumed the it was due to an over sized firing pin hole. That pretty much confirms it. It doesnt cause issues, you just cant use cratering as a pressure sign because it does it to all of them

Vortex products work. Plain and simple. If it isn’t consistent then it’s not mounted properly or there is another issue unrelated to the optic based on my experience. Reliability is very high.

    A Tale of two Scopes

    Both under 6 months old

Sent a Vortex back because the reticle was slightly rotated Got a brand new one back less than a week after mailing them mine Paid postage both ways

Sent Leica a scope back because the elevation turret was found to be broken when zeroing the scope They told me I had to pay the postage and it would be two months. Werent nice about it either
After I complained to Eurooptics I was contacted by their Leica rep and they did expedite it but if I didnt raise hell, Id still be waiting.

Got to love great customer service. Every company has a parts and service dept but some make the experience pain less and others dont!
