5 year warranty on electronics? And the whole point of this scope is to calculate a shooting solution for you... Am I the only one that foresees a problem with this?

I have been a fan of Gunwerks for a very long time and while this looks like a great new scope I am very hesitant to spend alpha scope money for it. The site doesn't say where it's actually made either. A few issues for me here..
 
We are sending our electronics package to our OEM partner in Japan for assembly. Complete scopes are returned to us for testing and QC.

Five years is a reasonable electronics warranty for a high-end product that has the kind of duty use a rifle scope has. We can service all elements of the electronics in our Cody WY shop. The product can be serviced for the life of the product, if there is a failure after five years, there may be some nominal repair charge.
 
To me it looks like a fantastic innovation. It's primary use, as most gunwerks products are, is for hunting, and gunwerks has always been working towards faster and simpler ways of getting a shot, focused on hunting scenarios. This is not a system geared towards use on multiple platforms, though it sounds like it has the ability. With this, all you need is a quality rangefinder.

And while the price is way beyond anything I could afford, if the glass and build quality is on par with Nightforce, Vortex Razor series, and other similar scopes, I certainly see where the price tag comes from.

As for the warranty, I feel 5 years is fair for electronics. Those of you with a smartphone, how long have you owned your smartphone? Longer than 5 years? I doubt it, for most of us at least. Electronics are different than mechanical devices. And as was stated, if something goes wrong after 5 years, a repair fee would probably be of little concern compared to the 5+ years of good functioning and service received out of the scope.

Time will tell on build quality and function, but from past track records, products associated with gunwerks are high quality.
 
A rangefinder is not part of the scope. The user dials the elevation turret until the measured range is displayed. The ballistic calculation of the solution happens in real time as you click the elevation turret.

Lifetime Warranty for optomechanics, 5 years for electronics.

Stores multiple ballistic profiles on the scope, and new profiles can upload from a smartphone app in minutes.

Looks like you guys did a great job with this scope!
 
Any updates or reviews? I was up in Cody recently on a doe whitetail hunt, and wanted to come check out your shop, but it was a little late. So I enjoyed some prime rib at Cassie's instead ha ha.
 
This looks amazing. I have 2 concerns:
1. The price seems awfully reasonable for a premium scope. I'd expect to pay $2k+ for one w/o the computer.
2. W/a Kestrel, there is a concern about the sun heating up the sensors. The mfgrs. recommend spinning the unit on a cord to equalize the sensors to the actual atmospherics before taking a reading. Heat coming off the barrel would exacerbate this heat gathering. Obviously, you cant periodically spin your rifle on the end of a cord. Whats the solution?

Heat coming off the barrel would exacerbate this heat gathering. Obviously, you cant periodically spin your rifle on the end of a cord. Whats the solution?

I guess there is no solution other than blowing it:D

I took the data from a past shooting class I went to shooting the 215gr Berger at 2982 fps and loaded that profile into the scope. I then dialed to the appropriate range and recorded the MOA on the turret. Went in 100 yard increments out to 1000 yards, the results were that the scope matched my verified drop either spot on or 1 click off out to 1000 yards.

If I combine this scope with my Radius RF then I'll be able to range, dial & shoot without ever breaking position behind the rifle. Additionally if you utilize a small data card holder you could simply use the scope to develop the range card for holdover shooting if your in a location with poor service and don't own a Kestrel.

Thanks for the feedback on this scope. Question..... once a range is established with your rangefinder, besides dialing the range on the Revic with the turret, is it neccessary to press a button on the scope when the crosshair is on the target in order to establish the angle or azimuth? Thanks.
 
Nope, you calibrate north when you set up the scope and it measures both the angle and the cant as well so it corrects in real time as you aim at the target. If you dial a range then aim the scope at a 45 degree angle it will adjust the range in the scope to reflect the angle change.

I actually just bought a second one for use on my .300 win mag so now that its on my rifle I'll be able to run it more and get better data.

You can enter a manual temp override in just a couple seconds.
 
Does anyone have actual experience using it while hunting?
How's the glass compared to other higher end optics?
Any pros and cons? I have only found a handful of independent reviews on line.
