Comparing the Berger 210 VLD to the 215 Hybrid

Thank you broz, just the guy I was waiting for. First off I've been waiting for a while now of your comparison of the two calibers. I watch all the videos leading up to the head to head battle. Idk how I missed the show down but thank you for your post.
I think you were completely unbasis in the test, and I completely appreciate all your efforts and data you did for everbody to see and learn from. So I would like to say thank you sir for once again teaching me more about this game without even knowing it.

Thanks to everyone on this thread. This is a wealth of info. Glad there are people as honest about bullet performance as Broz. I have been shooting 180gr accubonds at 3000 fps but I think it's time to step up to some 215s and see what they can do.

By nature of how I hunt and where I hunt my typical shot is 300-400 yards with plenty of opportunity to 1000 yards. I've got a 24" barrel so hoping for an accurate load at about 2800fps. It looks like impact velocities with that load should be great for this bullet.

I know you are shooting and trying out the 30 nosler now. And from what I read in that thread you are pushing the 215's at about the same speed as your 300 wm. My question is where are you at with 1 and dead kills with the 215's at this point? and have you had any kills closer than 200 yards and the results? Is the 215 still your go to bullet for the caliber?

Hello I was shooting the 210 vld out of my 30-378 I had used all of them up I was reading this thread and I tried the 215's this year. My wife drew a moose tag for NW Montana and I hadn't seen any info on using them on moose really so I thought I would share.

She shot her moose at 316 yds with a -12 angle the bull was bedded down and we had time to dial. She only took one shot he stood up and took a step and fell off the edge of the old road he was bedded down on and was done right there, I unfortunately didn't get any great pictures of the damage it was close to dark and we had to pack him a mile, I do believe it was a full pass threw and she hit him right behind the shoulder and I know for sure she caught a rib going in, impact velocity was 2898 fps with 4010 ft lbs of energy it performed great so far!!

Very nice bull..... Broz killed a very big Alaskan Yukon bull this fall with the 215 at over 1,000 yards so I think everyone can check off moose for the 215 now.
 
50 and 85, 100, 100 yards last month on Texas White Tail. Exit wound 3-3 ½", massive blood loss, all dropped in their tracks except one that bolted about 10 feet, then dropped dead. 300WSM, MV 2870. This makes 8 white tails in last three hunting seasons. Devastating performance and have yet to have anything smaller than a 3" exit hole. Wish this years would have been further out, but you take what's given to you or you wait and I pretty much waited till the last day of the hunt. Thanks Broz for directing me and helping me with the 215's! And man what a great thread!!!!!

Antelope doe, 75 yards, quartering to me. Entered inside edge of left front shoulder, exited behind far shoulder. DRT!! Tennis ball size exit hole. I've killed quite a few antelope with it now the farthest being 725 yards this year. None of them have gone more than 20 yards. I've also killed several elk with the 215 and had the same results. Of the 6 or 7 elk I've killed with it only one was shot more than once. The bull in my avatar I killed this year at 630 yards. Was in a VERY small opening in a dark canyon. At the first shot he spun around and ran about 50 feet and stopped. I didn't want to take a chance so put another one in him. It was totally unnecessary as he was already dead and didn't know it.

If you go all the way through this thread you'll see more examples of close range success. I would say the 215 Hybrid is actually better for close range than the 210 hunting VLD because it has a thicker jacket and will be less prone to blowing apart.
