300 WSM Powder suggestions, where to start?

Agreed. I remember when you were working a few of those up Feenix.
I was using RL-17 with 180 Accubonds at light speed, but the brass life was Really short!
That stuff has a pressure curve that goes from flat & boring to STRAIT UP in a hurry! But if you want blistering speed with a 180, it's the ticket. But yes it is also somewhat temp sensitive.
Fun to play with, but I moved on to 190 LRAB's over some Magpro & never looked back. Shoots bug holes & has a decent BC for the games I play Mr. Darton

On a side note, I almost looked you up a couple years ago while I was in Montana working on Malmstrom AFB with Granite, Feenix. Wish I had.
Back home now. hope all is well.
How's that Magpro for temperature sensitivity in the 300wsm case?

Dang, you should have. My building was the one with the missile in front.

Haven't had any problems with hitting what I'm aiming at, but truth be told I haven't shot past 1100 yds with a chrono in crazy cold or stupid hot temps yet.
I anticipate it being much less moody than RL-17 was.

Feenix I was on a tight deadline all 4 times I was there. They don't let you take your time when you're in some of those areas. I was a civilian contractor and the USAF were the armed escort. Not a lot of room there to make conversation. We just kept our heads down, did our job, & went back home as soon as we were done.
I was really hoping that I'd have time, but it was not to be.

-47* in that part of Mt. is Freakin COLD! Too cold to do anything fun anyway.
Plus I was not permitted to bring any toys on our trips to Malmstrom.

Good.
I have a few pounds I got for very cheap a while back. I've loaded a couple of different cartridges( 7mag and 300wsm ) without much accuracy but I loaded just to past book max charges and never seemed to pressure up.

Did you find your accuracy node at a high case fill volume?

L:DL! I know exactly some of those areas you're talking about ... as well as bone chilling temps.

Unfortunately no tbrice,
They came in before I got the speed I wanted, but they grouped so tight I just couldn't justify perusing the opening groups when I pushed it harder.

Well apparently H4350 is impossible to get at the moment and per EVERY source I checked shall remain so for the foreseeable future so I am going to start with IMR4451 as that powder is readily available OTC near my home.

I was amazed I when I went to the only 3 LGS with in 45 miles that carry power and literally every Hodgdon power you care to name was in stock in considerable quantities EXCEPT H4350. To make matters worse per people at the LGS H4350's availability is at best unpredictably unreliable, so unless I stumble on a cash of 4-5 1lb jugs I can buy OTC I won't be using it to reload.

Read a lot of great reviews of IMR4451 so Im going to give it a try.

Thanks to everyone for your input it was of great help, I just wish I could lay my hands on a reliable source of H4350 as my research showed it was the powder of choice for the 300 WSM. IMR4451 is being touted as a near equal to H4350 in all respects so I'll go with it.

Thanks again to all.

This is a little different than the other posts, but I've had great results with R19 with barnes bullets in my wsm.
I was planning on trying some 215 gr. Bergers, but I'm really happy with how well the barnes work on elk that I decided to leave that rifle alone. It's just a stock tikka.

I'm new to reloading (and this forum) but I've been playing with IMR4451 and Re19 in my 300WSM and had pretty good (for me) results.

I'm also starting to play with Superformance.

My 300wsm likes RL26 with 200gr eldx bullets , I've tried imr4350,H4831sc,RL17 and superformance, my best repeatable group is with RL26 good group on paper at 200yds dings steel out to 850yds
