53gr 22-250

I have decided to try and load some 52gr A-max for my 22-250. Will my 1 in 14 twist stabilize them? I have some H4895 powder and on the bottle is says 35.5gr for charge but the Hornady Books says max charge 33.8gr. What should I go by? Also how much grain difference should I go by to try and find a good recipe?

I shot the 53grn vmaxs over 36.5grns H4895 through a 26" 12 twist using winchester brass. The 14 twist will likely stabilize the 52 amaxs but no way on the 53grn vmaxs.

I have been shooting the 50gr V-Max from day one. Does 2-3grs make that much of a difference?

53grn vmax is based off a shortened version of the 75grn amax, it is longer than the 55grn vmax with a lot more bearing surface than any of the vmaxs including the 60grn, it has to be driven hard to stabilize in a 12 twist.

i shoot 52g smk in one of my 22-250's and 55g nosler balistic tips in my other 22-250 both of them have 1 in 14 and are 1/2moa shooters. although i am using varget not h4895 so cant answer on powder measurements.

I'm loading 35grs ofH4895 shooting 50gr tips.....1:12 twist...you will be fine.

I'd load up 3-5 count a set from min charge to max charge and see what you and your rifle like best.

I've shot probably close to 1K 52 gr. Amax's out of my 22-250 14 twist. They have performed great on Prairie Dogs out to nearly 500 yards, and have been very accurate. My rifle likes a near max load of H380 with this bullet. The only one I like better is the 52 gr. JLK LD, but it takes forever to get them.
