My new 22-250 will be here shortly. It will carry a 28 inch 1in8 Krieger barrel. I want to shoot the 75 grain A-Max bullet in this rifle. I am looking for loads using H-414, and RL-7. Anybody using these powder's?? Success?? Loads?? Tom.

He hasn't recieved his NEW 22-250 yet, why would he want think about a rechamber?

I know this is not the powder you asked for......but. Savage LRPV 1:9 twist 22-250 was the rifle I was using. 75gr. AMAX 37.5 - 40.0 grs. H4831SC with Rem 9 1/2 primers shot so well I never had the desire or need to look any farther.

I load 80gr AMAX with 4007 to 3250 in a Hart 22" 22-250AI. The 75s shoot to the same impact points out to at least 426 yds. (Turkeys) The 80s will knock over the rams at 550. (Needs "good" hit.) Also had good performance with RL19. Not listing powder charges as both are over anything I've seen in print and do expand primer pockets but its a coyote rifle and I don't shoot it much since I found an accurate load. The fireformed brass I have will last long enough on that basis!

I had a Shilen 8 twist put on an old Ruger a few years ago, had it throated for the 75 Amax. I tryed a few different powders but deffinatly prefers H414! The target in the pic lists 37.5 grains but that load is too hot for summer!!! I now load it back to 36.5 and it shoots just as good if not better and can be shot in the hottest weather @ 3350fps. The 75 Amax turns a 22-250 into a whole differnt animal. It carries in the wind and longer ranges a whole lot better. The results on prairie dogs has be very good....Lifts them up=messes them up BAD and drops them right back on top of the mound :D

I do not load for the 22/250, but with a 28 inch barrel I would be seeking the slowest burning powder I could fit in that case to take advantage of the barrel length. I am guessing the 22/250 has a tad more capacity than the 22/6.5x47 lapua that I do load. I am using a nearly full case of vv560 with the 80gr SMKs at 3300fps. I would think that the increased case capacity of the 22/250 would allow you to use something slower than RL-7, more like RL22 with the 75s. If you would like, send me a reminder PM and I will run it through QL for you when I get home.
