Brass ?

I just had my 7mag rebarreled and now my old reloads and brass won't fit because they had been fireformed for the old chamber. It has all been FL resized but still wont go . Is there anything that I can do to the brass, and loaded rounds, so that it will fit or do I need to just get new brass and pull the bullets?

Did you check the overall length of the brass after full length resizing ? The neck will typically get longer in this process. Perhaps the chamber of the rifle is on the low side ?

Yes, all the brass was trimmed after resizing. I thought about getting a collet body die but still not sure if that will work or not. Factory new ammo cycles fine with no marks. This thing undoubtedly has a very tight chamber.

with the .300H&H case (parent case) a full length die does not size all the case body. You don't need a lee collet die, but you need the one that will size all the way down into the band at the base for starters.

* what kind of a chamber is in your rifle? Is it a standard chamber or a tight neck?

* if you have a couple of unsized rounds from your old chamber that have not been resized, check to see what the neck diameter is, and the overall length at the datum line to the base. The gunsmith may have head spaced it off the base to shoulder instead of the locating band to bolt face that is a Sammi spec, or vise versa. You cannot go by the shoulder to neck mateing point! Looks like you'd need something with an I.D. of about .403 (even 10mm will work) to measure your head space between cases. A Hornaday headspace gauge will serve your needs well or even a 10mm I.D. inner bearing race will work well. Looks like a 12 or 13mm length is about right. Then measure with a dial caliper and compair between the old and new cases.

*you could also remove the bolt and try to insert a sized case in the chamber. If it goes in all the way to just ahead of the seating band, then you need a better sizing die. But if it goes all the way in, then it's a headspace problem.

The die I was talking about is at LarryWillis.com. Innovative Technologies - Reloading Equipment With the once fired cases, the bolt is .152 from closing, so I would assume this die would squeeze the case down enough so that it will chamber. I can get 60 pieces of Norma brass for the the price of this die, if I could find it.

I am assuming this brass doesn't fit because my last chamber was bigger than this one which allowed the brass to expand to a larger diameter than my current chamber? If this is the case, then this die should work.

that's the right die, and the one I was thinking of. You don't use it all the time, but maybe every three or four firings. It is designed to size the brass best in the high pressure areas of the case. The price for the die is expensive, but you can use it on any .300H&H case all the way out to .458 mag., and you plight points to the case being a little big (a couple thousandths will make a heck of a difference).
