338 Edge and 225 TTSX with H1000?

Hi guys,
I'm going to start working up a load for the 225 TTSX in my edge and was just hoping for some insight on where to start as far as powder charge the edge was built by shawn and is his canyon rifle as far as powder type I would like to start with H1000 if I can as that is what I already have. Any help on where to start as far as powder charge or loads you guys are using would be great

Starting load is 87.5 and max is 95. These bullets need to jump to rifling as they are solids. If you don't jump them pressures can be dangerous.

i think you'll find 1000 is just a tad too slow of a powder for the 225's. i had much better results with MRP. REL 22 is about right if you have any of that. 1000 works well with the 300's and even the 250's but anything lighter and you'll probably need a little quicker burning powder. i could shoot a compressed load with 1000 and no signs of pressure.

hi i have load the edge with 98gr off H-1000 cci250 primer and 225 TTSX 0-50 off land,
velocity 3250 and it shot very good

As stated H-1000 will work if that is all you have. I shoot faster powders in mine with the 225's. I have good loads with magpro, 7828, winchester WMR. With lighter bullets the faster powders give better results before compressing the loads so much.

Why bother with the 225's in an EDGE
Have you run the #'s on velocity and energy out to 1000 yards?
You have twice the wind drift and 1/3 the energy as the 300 gr SMK.

I am running 97 grains of H4831 and the 225 grain Accubond. It bugholes @ 100 and shoots 2" or less at 500 yards.

Never had a reason to shoot an animal past 600 yards so a higher BC bullet is not relevant. With the exception of once in 46 years of hunting was I not able to get well within my designated maximum range.

I am shooting th 300's but from what I understand that bullet can be quite explosive on smaller game leaving large exit holes. I am hoping the barnes will still kill well and not cause so much damage at the exit. Thanks to all of you for the input I really appreciate it

I haven't run the numbers on the 225 ttsx since both my 338-300 ultramags are set up with 225 accubonds at 3300 fps. They have plenty of killing power at 1000 yards with 2100 fps of velocity and get to the target over 100 fps faster than the 300 smk's. I have killed several nice bull elk with a 200 grain bullet at 1500 fps out of a handgun. Wind drift in a 10 mile per hour wind is very close between the two at 4, 5, and 6 inches at 800, 900 and 1000 yards. But trajectories are not even close. Both with a 300 yard zero the 225 shoots 25, 33, and 43 inches flatter at 800, 900 and 1000 yards. Thats a bunch of clicks but in my case since I shoot mil dots the flat trajectory of the 225 allows me to get on target quickly without the use of clicks. Longest shot with the 225 was 914 yards on an elk. Last years elk was 740 yards. If you want to shoot 225's don't feel handicapped. These figures are considering elk country where I live.

In my 338 Ultra mag and 90gr of H 4831 SC and the 225 TTSX seated .050 off the lands I shot this 3 shot group at 300 yds. I don't know the velocity because I didn't bring the chrono with me, but I am going to load up some more and will clock them then.
Those Barnes are one accurate shootin bullet.

Anyone tried Retumbo? I've been trying it working up so far to 94 grains in my .338 lapua getting 3042 running .030 off the lands... Looking at these posts I think I'll push in to .050 and continue on up to 96 or 97 grains to see if I can get a little faster with good results.
