Anyone able to get any 7mm Cartridge to 3300/160 or 3200/175gr?

And some cartridge designs do a great job of hiding normal pressure signs.
Yes sir, and the Ackley's are the worst! I dare say when you "see" what we call Pressure signs, you are crowding over 74K! Don't get me wrong, I'm still a Believer in high pressure in "new or 1X fired cases though." Once I get a reliable/repeatably accurate, stout load worked up, I set aside 50 in either the new cases or 1X, and save just for hunting. I still have some 35 AI with 250X from my first trip to Africa in '96 and no rifle any longer! lol

28 Nosler at this time since the stw brass is difficult to impossible to purchase.
I agree Uncle Vince, I always thought that 7mm WSM looked like the cat's meow, but it faded away. I.e 280/7mm Express and now, the 280 Ackley is just a cult fave. The STW and all the RUMs lost all their advertising, so now.... I'm still watching it, and I "might, just maybe" talk myself into throwing some money at a 28! lol

Should read my recent post about sourcing 7mm stw brass. Still much cheaper than factory 28 nosler brass.

I should mention I do subscribe to the low body taper and 40 degree shoulder designs.
On 4 out of my last 5 builds, 7 PRC being the exception. It is subject to be improved if i see a reamer drawing that accomplishes the changes.
Anybody know of one to look into?

I have a 7mm Weatherby mag Mark V with a 26" barrel. I've ran the 160 Nosler Part at 3330 ft/sec with RL-22 and the 175 Hornady Interlock at 3156 ft/sec with Norma MRP with what I feel is safe pressure. No normal pressure signs and good case life. JME

My 28 Nosler is at 3331 fps with Retumbo and Hornady 166 A-Tip. X-Bolt factory 26" barrel.
You're killing me Butter, you're dad-gum killing me! :) I'm trying to gather up my cow elk hunt deposit and I have bought two rifles recently! I don't "need" the 28...I don't "need" the 28...:)

That's awesome Capetown! I have never even seen a 7mm Weatherby to buy. I just didn't want one bad enough to save/spring for a Mark V. I have one "now", its the 6 lug 338/06 ULWT I'm having reamed to the Ackley. I had one similar way back in the 90's in 240 WBY, I was impressed with it then. I "think" Remington made a Special Run of the 7mm Wthby in the Classic, but it had a 24" barrel, still never saw one. The capacity of the 7mm Wthby just doesn't look any bigger than the RM, I suppose the long Wthby Throat helps? I am impressed you get those speeds, and I don't care if its 75K! ha I mean come on, we don;t use these rifles to plink with, do we? Do you seat your bullets way out for powder space?

As a young man I read Bob Hagel's exploits with his 7mm Mashburn Super Mag ( I think he claimed 3100/175?) . My best speed I could get my 24" Rem Mag to was 2950/160. Later in Life, I have tried 26" 7mm STW's, a 7mm RUM and a 26" Rem Mag. I was never able to get his storied speeds. I have read where both the 160 and 175 could actually be ran at these speeds, but how are they doing it? Are they exceeding the pressure limits? Now I read in a few places where a 24" barrel 28 Nosler ( a shortened RUM) has done 3300/160? How can this be? The ONLY reason I EVER wanted ANY 7mm Mag was for these speeds, ha. Not for LR Hunting but stretched string 400yds and big thump on big critters. I easily got 3200/210 XBT/340 Wby, but it was not 7mm! ha How did Uncle Bob do it? Opinions?
I load for my brother's 28" barreled Sako 7mm STW.. I get excellent accuracy with necked down Bertam 8 mag brass and 140 accubonds with 83 gr of H1000. Chrono avg. for 5 shots was 3415. I also have a wildcat 7mm based on the 8x68. It has 90 grains of water capacity to the base of the neck, and gets 3114 for 5 shots with Speer Grand Slam 175s using 85 gr of LRT from a 25" barrel.(shortened Remington factory 7mag barrel) My last 5 shut zeroing group at 200 meters comes out to about ,626 MOA. Brass is expensive for these big boomers and I don't push pressures as I want to reload my cases lots of times.

I normally seat my bullets at mag length minus .030 ( make sure they function ) providing the accuracy is good. The Weatherby case is appx 2-3 grs bigger than the 7 Rem but I believe it is the free bore that gets it the extra 100-125 ft/sec.

That sounds great! I am a believer in that Wthby free bore! I had a 340 Wthby and a 257 Bee, they were both just awesome.
Hey Lance...have you had any opportunity to take elk with that 28? If so, do you feel like it "hits them pretty hard? I have used and like both the 300 and 338 Mags on elk, even cows, and any 7mm Magnum I get again will have to hit just as hard to be worth it to me.
