I came around to your way of thinking during the Clinton years.Wow…..we're "Polar Opposites"! I guess I've been a prepper/survivalist/pessimist all of my life. I've always tried to prepare for hard-times. When I was young and "dirt poor" I would buy a hundred or so when I could afford them. As things improved financially, I went to 1000's, and then to 5K cases. Powder was the same, went from 1's to 5's or 8's! Absolutely no regrets!
My Grandfather had his FFL and granted this was in the 80's. He used to save all those wholesale books for me. Gosh dang that really brought me back!!!
Ditto. I got caught short then on primers. I said never again.
I was afraid there would be a President Dukakis so I stocked up on Unique and primers. Turns out it was a good move.

Even tho I didn't start reloading until the mid '80s I would have to drive 100 miles for primers, so buying small amounts at a time wasn't in the cards. I only needed 2 primers types, cci350 and cci250 for the 44mag and 264wm. Powder, "half @zz" properly stored will outlive you! Get everything you can justify……while you still can! My grandkids will inherit a lot…..then the government will take it from them! 
memtbThe government can inherit everything I flush as they deserve it! Not just a percentage, but all of it!Buy all of the primers that you can justify. They won't go bad…..unless you store them in oil to keep them from rusting!
