Does anyone hunt with 22-250 anymore?

Took care of a few badgers while elk hunting this fall. Longest was 518 yards. All shot with the 88 ELDM from the 22-250 AI.

Well now I'm curious, was this setup pulling double duty on elk and varmints; or did you just have two rifles along?

Haha I should have clarified my post better - I was packing my 7 SAUM for elk on this hunt. I also had my 22-250 AI for mid day shooting/varminting. Saw plenty of elk, but was holding out for a bigger bull this year for the SAUM.

The mighty 22-250, seems to be losing steam to the general public but if you have one or an improved version then you know they are very capable and enjoyable to shoot. I've had four over the years, they only one I have left is the first custom I ever had built on a very old but but like new 700. I really had no idea what I was doing, wanted a truck gun because I was varmint hunting pretty much everyday in my twenties. I had a 16.5" Douglas barrel with no taper installed. Kept the wood stock and shot a lot of critters with that gun. I shot my first fly at 100 yards with that rifle and had the bullet hole, fly guts and both wings laminated which hung above my reloading bench for years. The 16.5" barrel really handicaps that rifle but it's still accurate and carry's a tremendous amount of sentimental value so it stays. I have one of the early Leupold M3s in a fixed 6x on it, its one of my favorite rifles even if I don't shoot it much now days. 60 grain partitions are lethal on the bigger stuff, I also shoot 50 grain blitz kings and BTs. The rifle lIves all three. It's not a beauty but I'll try and dig it out and take a pic.

My cousin has hunted with a 22-250 for over 25 yrs.... he has made all 1 shot kills.. all chest shots....instant drop... some nice bucks... Wis.bucks in ag.country can go 300#
He sez he can see all the hair on the deers body fluff out at the shot...

I hunt with an 8 twist 22-250 and love it!!

I have been using a variety of 75 grain bullets, but would like to shift to 80 grain ones. What powders do you guys shooting 80's use?
