N560 or N565 for 6.5 prc?

I'm pushing 156 EOLs with 54.8 grains of N565 in Gunwerks brass and Fed 210Ms. COAL of 3.05. Only getting 2880 fps out of a 24" CarbonSix barrel but I can put 5 rounds in the same hole.
I'm pretty sure you could hit the next node up and get close to the same accuracy. I've had it happen on a couple of the 6.5 prc's I've built with both Rl-26 and N565. Both shot phenomenal groups in the mid 2800 fps range but we were hoping to get closer to 3000 fps. As we upped the powder charges in both rifles the groups started to open up. They opened up to around 3/4 moa and then started to get better as the speeds started reaching our target velocity. Both rifles ended up right around 3000 fps with groups that pretty much matched the slower velocity.

24" is probably only good for 2950 anyway, upper node, but 70 fps doesn't buy you much more performance. I'd def load 2 in .2 grains up to max and test it, but that's me. With components being hard to source the gain might not be worth the burn.

I'll always take accuracy over speed, but it just don't seem right when the PRC w/ 156 requires almost exactly the same the amount of adjustment at 1000 as a 6.5 creed w/ 140.
16 grain heavier bullet tho. I can run a creed fairly hard and still can't match a prc in any shape or form. I do hear of some guys getting ridiculous speeds out of creeds but not sure what mess they've made out of their brass. I don't run 156's generally in the prc anyway but if energy is the goal it makes sense.

I just started off w/156's in the PRC - goal was less wind effect over the 140 and they shot very well. Maybe try the N560 and see what it does. At least I have one load I know that works to fall back on.
It's a tough gig. You have to run numbers and model it. Often a higher velocity light bullet will match if not out perform a heavier slower bullet for wind. Think time of flight. I run a 135 a tip vs the 156 for this reason. Less drift and drop and the energy isn't needed. .6 moa at 1000 is all but about 4 moa less drop. It's just a better combo for my purpose.

I use both. N565 is more temp stable than n560. I use both powders with 6.5 prc and 7 saum's. N560 and a 140 elite Berger is magical. 156's and n565 is awesome as well.
I agree. N565 is more temp stable than N560. I do shoot both.

I did a pressure test and started to get clickers around 2950 plus some slight ejector marks. I'm good with the speed due to the accuracy. It's a laser at 2880. Forgot to mention that the barrel is a 7.5 twist. I don't use R26 as I live and hunt in AZ and also hunt in PA.
I was shooting 144 Hybrids with N565 in the original barrel with good success also. I built this PRC to shoot 156s as I have a 6.5-284 shooting 140s with H4831sc and a Creed shooting 130s with H4350.

Odd. I use 26 from 0-100 degrees and have zero issues. Been hammering yotes from 400-750 this past week with no fps per degree adjustment. It was 6-10 f most of the week and got up to 25f. Admittedly I don't like shooting when it's overly hot tho. I've done plenty of prs comps in 90-100 and it's not that much fun. Barricades are hot as hell and mirage is a pia.

Lol. I am not but they have gotten about $140 K of my money so far and about that much more to go. Kids all go there. Wife went there. Bought some rent houses out there to avoid some of the cost. Crazy. Love Lubbock though.

Yeah sounds like you are roped, lassoed, and hogtied to TTU whether you like Lubbock or not!:D
