Best factory rifle?

You are not giving us much to go on here. What is the primary use for the rifle, what calibers do you want or have.
Most on this site have many rifles in their safe. I have many hunting rifles for under 500 yds, but did not have any for longer ranges.
I was initially interested in the Waypoint in 6.5 PRC. Read lots of good stuff in the magazines and then went to find one.
Not being a writer for a magazine there was none to be found.
Bought a Seekins Havak that was not hard to find.
Put on a Leupold VX-5HD (also readily available) and a TBAC Dominus CB and could not be happier with the setup.
Installed ARCA rail and use on a 2-vets tripod and am confident on hitting Game (this is a hunting site) out to 1000 yds.
Not to get off topic But this is more then a long range hunting site. From my point of view It's everything including life laughing..a community if you will. Now back on topic. Someone here made comments about a Sako 42 and buying used. I agree. We're quick to dismiss what worked half a century ago. Some real tac drivers out there.

I really like the seekins havak and if weight isn't a huge concern the bergara hmr pro I had was very accurate.
Sounds like Seekins has solved the bolt binding issue? I've heard no complaints from those of you who recommended them on this thread. I would have bought one instead of going custom except for intermittent reports of the bolt binding when cycling the action fast. Went ARC Nucleus custom instead. Maybe it's time to take another look. My issue was there are no LGSs that carry them, so it's a mail order and hope you get a good one kind of deal.

I have two, one in 300 prc and another that I bought as a barreled action from
Straight action armory in 280 ai and they both shoot very well. I've had no issues with the bolt binding and they have gotten more smooth the more I use them.

I've only ever had 2 rifles that would do that; An A-Bolt M-1000 Eclipse Thumbhole in .270 WSM with nickel-cased 130gr Federal Premium ammo, and a Remington 700P 7mm Rem Mag with Remington Premier 150gr Sciroccos. Both were a bit heavy for my taste in hunting rifles.

You made a believer out of me, if not the OP. I'll be ordering my first Model 100! Been looking at them for 2 years. What scope/reticle are you using?
You are persuaded so easily to buy a certain brand based upon a single group! What if you could go even cheaper on a factory rifle? I haven't shot my cheapest rifle in while since ammo is unobtainium. Plus, every time I do, she makes me feel so cheap and seedy. Surely, if you spend at least $3500 you will get a rifle that waaaaay outshoots this cheap piece of Deutsche trailer park weaponry!
Right? I paid $429 in a dark alley at 2:30 AM. But I had to back up with the cash behind my back because I was ashamed to look him in the eye.
Mauser M18 at 300 Yards.

Oh man! You convinced me again! Gotta get one of these now! (At this rate, my safe will fill up quickly and I can tell my wife each time that the funds were for work-related items [stress relievers] because she'd never suspect it being for a gun at what the M18 and 100 cost!) I'm just praying no one sends me a similar photo of a group from a Mossberg Patriot or a TC Compass!! I will have spent nearly half of what another GOOD custom would run me on the 4 bargain bang-bangs!! SOMEBODY STOOOP ME!!🤣🤣🤣

EXCELLENT shooting!! Indeed, the M18s can be as accurate as any custom gun, and more accurate than most. I keep saying it: Kudos to the European gun makers! Maybe I got the only bad Sakos made, but other than them and the Bergara 14 from Spain, I'd buy any Euro bolt gun with confidence!

Before you spend your wife's money 🤣, I should warn you about my first Sauer. At 200 yards I shot 5 times and only hit this target dot once. IMG_20200121_170450.jpg No, wait, I was wrong. There were 4 more holes hiding underneath that stupid dime. How did that get there?

I'm kinda jerking your chain! The Mauser M18 and Sauer 100 are made in the same Wunderbar Fabrique
They are basically the same rifle except that the synthetic stock on the Mauser appears to made by "Rubbermaid"

Did you have a disappointing experience with the Bergara 14? My experience with Bergara (BMR Steel) has been really good so far. It is really light and it shoots as good as a much heavier rifle. Earlier in this thread a guy posted targets from a Bergara HMR that were excellent.

Yep. I had one that was pretty decent, but not as good as I could have botten for the price point, and another that wasn't good at all. Tried everything. The decent one was the Timber model and the bad one was the Ridge when it first came out in 7mm-08. I was very surprised. Fit and finish on both were very good, but the poor accuracy was likely a problem with the chambering somehow. I tried modifying the stock fit with bedding and shims, and it only got much worse. The Timber was a solid MOA gun, but again, fir that price point, I could have done better, and certainly much lighter. One of the Tikkas the guys keep mentioning on this thread would have probably been the ticket (as an example). Also, I hear long range instructors saying guys who bring the Premiers to the class have lots of issues when a lot of shooting is involved. Like they aren't build for heavy range use. Granted, I wouldn't need to shoot that much, so I would not rule out a Premier at some point, but it would be a Mountain version. I've owned, shot, and/or built literally hundreds of rifles over my lifetime now, and the one thing I know for certain is that I do not like carrying more than 8 pounds of rifle (without scope) in the field. Even less is better. So a Premier Mountain or Springfield Waypoint might be in the cards. I lament that Barrett stopped making the Melvin Forbes Fieldcraft. I bought one of the first 500 produced chambered in 25-06, and it was absolutely perfect in every detail - especially accuracy and handling. Like a fool, I sold it off to afford something else thinking I could get another. I would have hands down recommended the Fieldcraft if it were still available. You can occasionally find one, but they go for over $2k now. I paid $1475 for mine at Eurooptic.

Oh wow, I missed the 2 replies above the Bergara question. I was eying a Sauer 100 in 7 Rem Mag. I see you were shooting factory ammo in that target, which is totally amazing.

I have heard the M18 and S100 were very similar, but thought there may have been some mechanical differences in the 2 other than the stock. I have heard a few gripes about the M18, but never a quibble about the Sauer. Maybe it was all just about the stock or that the stock sometimes makes a little difference in the overall accuracy. I am going on a foggy memory and 2nd hand info right now, though.

I first started drooling over the 101 and M12 iterations. Got hold of the 101 brand new, but handled as a display and the bolt was slightly tarnished. I got my gunsmith to Cerakote the bolt and the bottom metal plate the Titanium color, which made it look amazing. I got that rifle for $795 out the door on auction. Chambered in .300 Win Mag, it is one you have to hold on to when you touch it off. I believe it to be under 7 pounds, though I've never put it on scales. I keep hoping to find a 101 replacement stock in the beaitiful wood grain, but no such luck, I'm afraid. I have only toyed with it so far, but know that it shoots the 130gr Barnes TTSX and Hammer Hunter 124 grain bullets (very light for caliber, yes.). I made both somewhat reduced and full power loads, and it shoots all of them around 1/2 MOA. I have a wealth of 150 - 180gr bullets on hand to try, and want to get back on the range with it. That stock is very tacky and every piece of lint, fuzz, and dog hair sticks to it permanently. The coating will scratch off leaving a very plain piece of hard plastic underneath, but it needs to be removed from the action to properly do and refinish, and honestly, I haven't had the nerve to try to break it loose and risk messing up the way it's torqued into the aluminum block. Ugly and tacky I can work with. Inaccurate, I cannot. Stock aside, it is one of the great steals I've found all time. That was half price. The M12 is equally stunning, and these 2 may only be eclipsed by the Steyr CL-II. That's a slightly higher price point, however. That one is on the bucket list. I've owned a Steyr before, and it was a tack driver for sure, even if the stock was ugly. Lol!

Oh, and I think I should spend a bit of my wife's money very soon! My birthday is coming up and she works and can afford it!🤣
