Having hell with my new 300win

Just a thought, try backing off on the action screw torque a bit, in increments, til you are as low on torque as you feel comfortable with...

Have had numerous 700s.
Have always found with the more recent ones that they foul terribly and require serious, regular cleaning.
I always replace the factory stock and trigger.
200 grain .30 caliber bullets and H1000 are a match made in heaven.

I have always set my action screws at 45 lbs in all my rifles, front and back. All my centerfires will shoot .5 @ 100 or better. Does it really make a difference, or does that pertain to rifles with uneven action/bottom metal pressure? I never experimented with action screw torque. Honest question.

OR,. Sell it and Buy,.. a,. Tikka !
That would BE,.. CHEAPER !
Read my post, # 80,. IF wanting to, "Keep", the Rifle
We HAD, 2 of, these,.. Remington 700,.. "tupperware turds" !
I'm sure the Tikkas are great rifle. I've never had one. I want to get one though, just to play with and learn. The facts of building a rifle on a Remington or Remington clone is the best way to go due to the options of stocks and triggers and barrels, etc. If I had a Remington that wasn't shooting I'd start with a stock and trigger, then swap in a barrel and have it trued at the same time.

A few years ago purchased a Remington Scendaro in 7 mm Mag. Could not get better than 3" groups with anything tried. Finally had it rebarrelled and the action to barrel match was way out of spec. Rethreaded the action and barrel fit and shoots perfect now. Remingtons once renowned quaility did not live up to its reputation in that situation.

What rings are you using… chased this same issue on a 6.5 SLR. Had a Vortex scope on it. I swapped the scope with a Leupold and groups went where I expected them. Talked to a guru @ Vortex. He was sure it was the rings, he sent me a new scope and a new set of rings @ his cost. I put the new scope in the Warne rings. Same problem. Swapped the rings with Vortex rings (I think they are made by Seekins) problem solved. Apparently the Leupold scope was simply a though thicker. I called Warne… and they had a batch of 30mm right bags that did not get the proper amounts of coatings.

Drove me nuts!

Vortex support was off the charts!!

I feel like I've heard more and more of that in the last 10-15 years. They were once great rifles.
