I Hate Hammer Bullets!

I used to shoot with guys and gals that just ordered their own j4 jackets and swaged their own bullets. Fair bit of work but not that costly.

There seems to be need for those who hate Hammer Bullets to have a place to vent. So, I decided it would be a good idea to make a place for that to happen. There is no need to hold back here. Let it out. Nobody has to be sly in starting threads that are anti Hammers by saying it is about more choices. Just let it out here. This is a safe place to do it. It is pretty evident that most who hate Hammer Bullets have not used them but have formed a hatred just the same. Let us know how you got this hatred. We don't learn anything about our bullets this way, but we might learn something about marketing. If there are those that hate Hammer Bullets that have used them, please post here. We do learn from these instances and will use that information to get better.

I have one rule for this thread. I do not want any satisfied Hammer users to post on this thread. I don't want anyone to stick up for Hammer Bullets. I am willing to take what comes here and I will monitor the thread and I will handle any defense needed. I don't want this to turn into one side vs the other and have the thread shut down due to infighting.

Let's go.
Man I really hate how easy load development was on my 7WSM and my 6.5 SAUM with Hammer Hunters. Now because of these stupid bullets I have nothing else to do. I also hate how the last 3 deer I shot were DRT and didn't run off so I didn't get to track them for a mile and spend my day looking for wounded animals. Why can't you just make a normal crappy bullet so I don't have to change my stubborn ways? I mean seriously man why do you have to be such an overachiever and build beautiful consistent bullets that do everything we want them to when loaded properly with the correct barrel twist. Don't you have anything better to do? I could go on all night here but luckily for you this is all the time I have to vent about my frustration with these bullets.

There ya go, every other bullet is crappy. Nothing dropped dead before Hammer Bullets. It was expected that I'd shoot a buck and still be tracking it until Tuesday. Same ole song and dance. Read the OP's request. It gets SO annoying that every bullet/loading thread becomes a Hammer Bullet pep rally. Especially when satisfied customers were specifically asked not to comment.
You can throw darts at me on several other threads. Try the one on coyotes.

I will take anything. It doesn't have to be constructive.
As a casual observer who has never shot them, this has essentially turned into the 6.5 Creedmore arguement. The more popular a product it becomes, the more some people will hate it. They don't have to have a reason and/or they may run with any unproven arguement that supports their point of view. On the other hand, just like some believe the 6.5C will kill elephants at 2.7 miles because of marketing and have essentially zero ballistic understanding, some will insist the hammer is the only bullet worth shooting despite probably a thousand other bullets being successful. It's that blind/ignorant/overly passionate loyalty that drives many people crazy.

I'm sure there are some legitimate gripes with Hammer bullets because nothing is perfect, but you're chasing your tail looking for an answer. Stick to your secret sauce that sells and forget the naysayers because you'll never please everyone. Stay out of the arguments and dont fan the flames that keep the arguments going. Once people loose the emotional reaction to your product, they'll quit posting negative things because they won't care. You're better off spending your time researching, improving, partnering, or selling. You've outgrown the phase of your business where you have to gain new customers one at a time by personal interactions on a forum. Accept the idea that people are going to post negative opinions about your product and you don't have to address each and everyone of them. Just like people hating on the 6.5C, most actually hate the overly passionate following. Trying to change their mind by discussing the attributes of the round only makes their disdain worse and it's not even addressing the root problem. You've got bigger, more productive fish to fry.

Steve,
I've been shooting Barnes sense the Barnes X. I now using the TTSX. Until just recently I've never lost a deer with Barnes. It put him on the ground just like every other shot. But that one got up and got outta there, never to be found.
165gr ttsx from a 300WM.
I can't say it was the bullet that's at fault. I'm sure I just missed the spot.
Convince me why I should use your bullet, other than Barnes are in short supply.
Like you I shot Barnes for nearly 10 years with great success. Before Barnes I shot Bergers and Sierra Match and game kings. I tested Hammers in my own rifles and was very impressed with the results and now have dozens of friends who I load for enjoying the same. The majority are Weatherby rifles from 240 to 338-378. All with Hammer Hunters with weights within Hammers recommended twist rate and all have produced exceptional terminal performance. Stay within minimal impact velocity and there's nothing better from close range to that limit. If you're wanting to kill animals past that limit there are better options. I have first hand experience now for over four years and now 300 plus animals killed with Hammers in these ranges without one mishap or failure. I was turned on to them because of this site and thankful it exists. Steve and Brian have always shot a straight arrow and haven't sold their products to do something they weren't intended to do. My two cents.

I find it to be two separate issues: those that hate the product, and those that are annoyed to the core (cup and core? 😆) that every bullet inquiry is met by a mob. I'm the latter. I am currently being digitally torn a new one on other threads by the usual suspects. Admittedly it's for calling them out, but if being able to hold a conversation without the Hammer Bullet mob taking over it's more than worth it. BTW I shoot monos when they are the appropriate solution.
Stay out of it RC, you weren't invited.

I'm kind of interested in these bullets myself I know nothing about them but I do see a popularity thing going on for them good or bad. I have my own favorites but always looking for something new I reload so what I look for is easy loading something that flies well and consistently and does what it is supposed to when it gets there from 22cals to 30 cals.Appeciate any info out there good or bad

Lol it's okay I use ELDX, BERGER, Nosler and Lehigh Defense bullets as well so no not all other bullets are crap in my opinion. I have had great results with several bullets including Hammers. I just wanted to give all the haters something to complain about.

Would you mind expanding on the limit? It's nothing I've heard before. Not that every bullet doesn't have its limits.

That was actually a rather cogent and reasonable response sans the last sentence. Keep working on that.

It would be really cool to have an app like what Hornady has for longer shots. It's probably my only complaint is not having them in a kestrel or some kind of a shortcut for longer distances. But I can imagine where something like that isn't cheap or easy.
Quite a few of them are on the applied ballistics app.
