0-600yrds target caliber

You can easily make up for the slight pressure difference in the 260 with more powder when seating the bullet further out for sure + not much recoil difference between the 24 and 26cal. I mostly use FMJ for all my shooting needs! Not everyone's cup of tea. The only cal I don't (and can't get) have any FMJs for are the 27cal (270win). Norma makes them, but can't get them in the US anywhere? Those Rem clones (115mc) are hard too find.
Yes your right for the difference in pressure can be ajusted easy. Yes their is not that much difference in recol but in some competition their is a no break rule and for spoting my impact I do think a 6mm caliber would be easier. But I can be wrong.

270win.. one of my best hunting round.

I like speer to have a low cost pratice/hunting round

Your fav 28cal is 1 of few cals I don't have. I get less recoil (same gun, weight and bullet weight style) with more volume less pressure over more pressure less volume exiting the barrel.

The 7mm mag is a fun to shoot kick less thant à 300win mag, no nead for a break when hunting. But all day long shooting can get into you.

The 7mm08 is and other story, less recol thant à 308win, accurate far out and deadly on game. Will have one for precision shootig some day.
Often I let the 7mm08 to my girl friend and take my 308 to go to the range... she beat me up each time😅

My 284win is a classF rifle, my best rifle to date

I live in the same town as DT and pass by his work place every day taking kids too school. His wife is a great person, but no thanks on DT himself!
Personally, I DON'T know,.. Mr. Tubb.
Probably has, a Bit of an Ego from, ALL those, 1,000 yard,.. WINS !
DON'T freakin' care as, the 6 XC, IS, a FINE, "step up" 6 MM Cartridge and a GREAT, Design !
Does what, the 6 Creed and .243 Win. DO with, better Barrel Life, no Mag. feeding "issues" with, ANY, Bullet in Rem 700 Short actions.
I've done, a LOT of "Homework" on the 6 XC Cartridge, before building and INVESTING in THIS, combo, Deer, Antelope, Varmint / Target, Rifle.
IT won't be, for Sale on my LGS Rack as, IT'S,.. a KEEPER !
The 6 XC is, EASY to shoot and has LESS,.. Recoil / Muzzle Jump than, the other, BIGGER,.. Choices,..

A friend of mine shoots 7mm08 due too him not liking the recoil of the 308win......well I built an AR10 in 308win and let him borrow it. He braced himself for the recoil and was completely surprised on how little recoil it had. He said it has less than his 223rem. I gave him 3 mags of 147 ball ammo for testing and 1 mag of 180gr soft points. He asked for my shopping list and gladly supplied it to him.

7mm08 will have less recol thant 308 in same rifle set up. Plus for hunting and shooting I have always prefered those 7mm calibers due to their bc and sectional densiti. Not saying 308win is bad, got to of those, but if you give me the choice between 308 and 7mm08 I got no dout on my preference.

Still more looking to go 6mm way for my next rifle

His wife gave a case of 308 for Christmas, but he didn't own a 308 🤣 . It was the thought that counted I guess?

If I go the 6.5 way wiil be going with a 260rem long troated. Dont know why but dont like the creedmoore.

Could go again with a 284win but my goal is to go down scale so that why I look into 6mm cal
If you long throat a 260 on a Rem 700 short action, you won't reach the lands and stay in the box. You mentioned single feeding and could do that. I've got 3 6.5x47 Lapuas in Rem 700 short actions. You can seat 140 berger vld to 2.8 and kiss the lands and fit in the magazine. I way preferred the 6.5x47 vs the 260 Rem I had.

At the club I single feed too and im more into fclass shooting, maybe someday will take the prs route. Then I will look for mag lenght round

Nothing wrong with the 6XC I love the one I have, but mine is more for hunting not target based on an older Wby MkV Varmitmaster I re-barreled from .22-250 to 6XC The top one is the 6XC at the bottom, is my Wby Varmitmaster Mkv in .224 Wby Mag these are the older miniature MKV actions, great walking rifles very lightweight.

When I worked a gun store years ago, we had a 240 Weatherby in the ultralight with a wood stock . Man, that thing was light ! One I didn't buy, and still regret it 25 years later .
