Thinking about selling my custom 300WM and building a 300WSM (to be lighter and more compact) to shoot the 205 EH with either RL23 or H4831SC. Most likely using Bartlein 3b fluted 24" barrel. Anyone have any experience with the 205s in a 300WSM to give me speeds or any other info? Thanks

I don't have experience with the 205 EH's but I do have a 300WSM and I have been shooting 210 Hunting VLD's.

My 300WSM is built on a long action though so I can seat the VLD's.

I started .020 off the lands. 24" Bartlein Barrel with 1:8 twist. I have been using 66.8 grains of 4831SSC and I am getting 2840fps muzzle velocity. Not sure if that helps, but I figured it may give you an idea. ES is 15 (could be better, but this is working) 1/2 moa groups at 300 yards.

I have zero interest in the Sherman cartridges. Thanks tho
I have a 300WSM Sammi spec custom built on a Montana 99 short action. I wish I built it on a long action. With 185vld seated to rub elbows with the lands it's single shot. Still shoots amazing seated to feed thru bdl style mag. Just looks silly as it's seated so deep in the case.

1.5" at 300 yards is not bad for a 300wsm at all. There a torque monster and very hard to shoot less than that especially with a light one. I wouldnt read to much into 15 ES. I'm doing load development now on a Tikka now it only weighs 9lbs 7oz scoped up and its a handful, has no break.
It has shot 2" at 475 im thinking might be as good as I can shoot it.

Agree here 100%. I was pretty happy with where it ended up and didn't want to take the time to "fine tune" it. I figured I got lucky landing on as ES of 15 right off the bat so I wasn't going to change anything. My rifle is a bit heavier; likely 14lbs and using a TBAC Ultra 7 can. Not sure how effective the break is while the can is on, but its not horrible. The extra weight helps too, i am sure. Shoots like a dream.

Interested to see how the EH's work for the OP. I do have some EH's I am looking to try for a short 7-08 I just got back together. Started using the 210 VLD's for hunting based off of a post on here some time ago and have switched to VLD's almost exclusively. I have been fortunate to make some good shots and they have performed flawlessly. The 168's I have been loading for my sons 308 have performed the same.

Hoping the same for the Elite Hunters.

I just read my post its 8lbs 7oz scoped up
Thats a handful for sure! Had a buddy with a Savage Model 10 300WSM (just shy of 7 lbs from factory if I remember correctly) and their cheap polymer stock. It was in the 7.5 lb - 8 lb range with scope and three rounds. He loved it but man, it was nuts to shoot.

My 300wsm is on a Tikka long action and is throated for 215hyb. The bearing on the 205 is about the same as a 215, so seated 20k off lands the shank of bullet is above nk/shldr junction. I ran a ladder from 66.5-69gr rl26 in norma brass with cci 250 primers speeds went from 2820-2940fps. Barrel length is 22.5" 9.5tw. Rl23 is a great powder in the wsm, you'll likely top out at around 67gr with a velocity around 2900fps.

I'll be working with exact combo here in the next couple weeks. Built on a win 70 action and a proof barrel. I'll update as I go. The 205 and 300 wsm are a perfect combo in a win 70 wsm action with its 3.1" mag box. The bullet bearing surface sit just above the neck/shoulder junction seated at mag length

23 is what I'm just getting started on, H4350 shot well. But I wanna give 23 a wirl waiting on some brass to arrive to continue

I too would build off the Winchester 70 action. Only thing kinda holding me up is I dont want to wait for a McMillan stock again. I am going to test my 300wsm Extreme Weather soon but not putting a lot of faith in the factory barrel. Although the chamber throat is almost perfect for the 205 and the magazine length.
