300WSM and 205 Elite Hunter

Been really happy with my wsm on a long action. It's not the lightest setup but it's also not the heaviest rig I have. All done up with scope is about 11lbs. If I switched to a lighter scope it would probably be closer to 10lbs

either way, for this year I settled on shooting the 250gr Atips going 2615fps.

ES/SD are acceptable for me. Holds 1/2 To 3/8 pretty moa consistently. Below is 4 shots at 100 and 4 shots at 800 (there's another splat inside one in the red)

I'm currently gathering parts and supplies for a similar build on a tikka long action. Just trying to decide on a barrel and stock that's in my price (PBB,Mcgowen,X-caliber)( Boyd's, factory or a used one from here). Haven't found any bullets heavier than 180 sst. So I'll follow this too.

been really happy with My PVA prefits. I just ordered another 300 wsm barrel so it's ready when my barrel is toast.

I tried some 230's without much luck, but didn't spend a lot of time on it. Would love to spend more time to work up a load for them. Do you mind sharing your powder info and charge weight?

I bought some 230s too but when I ran the numbers I would have to get close to 64kpsi to get to where I think the nodes would be. 250s running even at 2615 fps is neck and neck with the 230s as fast as I can go in my rifle and only working around 58kpsi or so. Not as flat but definitely carries a lot of energy.

I'm running H1000 65.7gr .010" off the lands.

I recently bought a win xpr (24" bbl) in 300wsm--- I looked at lots of other people's load info and concluded that the 205 hybrid wouldn't get me quite as far as the 215 (using crunched data numbers) so I'm in the first stages of load testing 2 different bullets.
The 215 hybrid is getting me 2820 fps, and the 178 AHH has initial numbers at 3130 fps.

Good info. Thanks

Frogman, which long action did you build on? I'm shooting a short action now but am just about ready to buy a long action.
