Referencing the attached photos, is the clearance between the turret and rail too close? 0.006" feeler gauge with minor resistance, about what you would expect for a good fit. 0.007" slides in with a little more force and 0.008" is a nogo. These are 0.850" height rings, 0.990" were on previously and there was a lot of space between turret and rail but head is too high and would need to add 1/4" of padding to stock. It shot fine with that setup but I prefer them lower. Had to cut off the first notch to eliminate interference with the scope bell and get correct eye relief. Not sure how much that rail may flex while shooting. Rifle is 257WBY. I could always file down the center notches is it needs more room.

edit: mounts are EGW.

Thanks guys, I typically use 2 piece bases. I'll fire off a few rounds to check zero and see if there might be contact. I checked bore sighting before changing rings and then after and it was the same so hoping it will be close to the previous zero.

Too close for me I would order taller rings

It really depends on how much it affects your mental game and if it in fact touches while firing. I'd shoot it and look for marks. But if it bothers you the rail is the least expensive part of the system. So filing the rail in the center for clearance and coating with Alumihide or some other coating would be fine too.

I agree with XSN. ^^^^^ It sure wouldn't hurt. I've ground the front on a few rails where there just wasn't sufficient clearance with the objective bell.

I've had the same situation... I took the dremel to the rail beneath the turret. Sometimes the rail doesn't sit perfectly above the centre of the bore and having a bit more clearance means you can make sure your reticle is upright regardless.

You shouldn't have a problem. Filed down center and cut off 3 bars off frt on my pic to make my scope fit on my 7. .005 clearance. 20 rounds no touch. Consistant 2-3 inch group at 600 yds.
On my 300 weatherby made pic into 2 pieces to open up chamber area. 2 yrs and over 100 rnds. My main hunting gun. Solid 2" groups 600 yds. Never had to redail in. Has seen lots of truck and quad pounding. Go for it 👍👍👍👍
