22 creed 73gr Absolute hammers!

I just snagged some RL-26 powder. Will have to see if I can work up a load and shoot it 1/2 as good as you. Be very happy with that!

rl26 best iv found for 22 creed
It's taken me more than 2 yrs of effort to get some RL-26. And smokeless powder can't be shipped to Alaska. So I have to ship it to my winter house in the lower 48, and then load it in the biggest cartridge cases I have, fly back with those cartridges in checked luggage, pull the bullets in Alaska and salvage the powder! Pretty ridiculous effort. But better than the alternative, which is no RL-26 at all.

Only other alternative is I could drive up a maximum of 16 lbs thru Canada, if I wanna drive 4,500 miles thru the States and Canada.

wow that sucks man

Yes it does, and yes it is! :)

I load 338 Lapua Imp cartridge cases and get back here with 1.5 to 2.5lbs of salvage powder per trip. I have another idea that I may resort to. Fill up some 12ga shotshells with smokeless power and fly them back in checked baggage. Much bigger payload per shell.

The airlines restrict the numbers/weight of ammunition per ticket holder. Some limit it to 200 rounds of ammo. Some limit it to no more than 10lbs ammo.

But 200 12ga shells can hold a lot of smokeless powder...

I'll have to for the shot shells, if that's what you mean. Should I go that route.

I've got an old lyman shotshell press that will star crimp.
Also have a roll crimping tool. Will have to experiment on the best approach to retain the powder and then get it back out of the hulls with the least headache.

I was wondering about the 22 creedmoor. I can't find a die with crimp

Roger that...

Good question for pickens72. I also wonder if he's crimping the Absolute Hammer bullet.

I also was looking for a crimp die for 22 Creedmoor. I'm going to research the Lee Factory Crimp dies. They don't make one for 22 Creed. But maybe one of their other .224 Factory Crimp Dies could be modified to work on the 22 Creed cartridge?

What kind of animals do you shoot with your .224 calibers?
