Black gun rant

I consider GG's hogging of 3 benches as rude and inconsiderate of others too.......
Maybe next time he will set up on the far left so none of the unwashed black rifle folks can bother him!!!

Buzzgun,
You seem to have the ability to read just the parts you want and leave out the rest just like our beloved nonya. Again, I find myself having to repeat what I have already said: There were always open benches all day long. I never impeded anyone from shooting. There were plenty of benches. I arrived early and got setup on three benches because I was working on three guns at once. If there was ever a time when people outnumbered benches I would have gladly removed my gear from however benches necessary to make sure people got to shoot.

And again, I have nothing against any form of shooter. It is just that there seems to be a large portion of the "black gun" crew that are less considerate than some of the other shooting groups. This may not be true, but it seems to be consistent enough that other people in other places have noticed the same thing. But I know that several of my best shooting friends who are avid 3gun and tactical shooters never let their brass fly all over others at the range so it IS possible to be mindful of others while shooting semi-autos.

I think most understood where you were coming from with your statements about the value of the equipment Goodgrouper. I woulda been POd whether they shot black guns or benchrest. Inconsiderate is inconsiderate no matter who they are.

Your post is about inconsiderate people who just happened to shoot black guns. I dont see a reason for any alarm about it. Those people are out there even in the shooting community. ( I think they are a lot rarer in the shooting community than in any other group I have had the pleasure of socializing with)

I got muzzle flashed by a very experianced shooter once, and while I was civil I explained how inconsiderate it was. His retort was it isnt loaded. I had to explain that danger didnt come from his gun but from me injuring myself or others trying to get out of the way. Because at the time I couldn't see a chamber indicator (which I still do not believe was there till after the incident) only the hole down the end of that barrel.

Are we supposed to ignore stupidity just because they own guns? Heck criminals own guns and I dont mind people ranting about them. I thought you were pretty specific in your post about the fact that it wasnt a generalization and the only thing black gun specific is the ability of a semi auto to send a scalding hot piece of brass down your collar.....which most of us know is no fun.

Exactly. Thank you Eddybo.

Nonya's a lost cause. He suffers from jealousies in the subconscious part of the brain.

And buzzgun is wrong to conterattack when there was no attack to counter in the first place.

And GG... you couldn't have gone about airing your concern any more respectfully. Anyone looking to create a tiff out of this just got out of the wrong side of the bed. What's amazing is how consistently some are able to do so.

I read the entire thread just fine.......I have no quarrel over complaints about brass being flung towards you........my points were as follows:

Your post smacked of elitism when you felt the need to tell everyone how valuable your equipment was......

and

If you had set up all the way to the left, this would have never happened......

And buzzgun is wrong to conterattack when there was no attack to counter in the first place.

Counterattack????? That's funny!!!

Guess you didn't really read my first post........I posted it in response to GG's question:

He asked:

"I make a post about the apparent lack of common courtesy and you construe and formulate it into this?! Who could have known that something as simple as courtesy would be such a bad topic for you?"

My post was a response to let him know that his post came across the same way to me.......I wasn't "counterattacking" anyone......I was commenting......guess it was a "counterattack" since you didn't agree with it???

Oh yeah, GG doesn't seem to have his knickers in a twist.......why do you??? He seems to be handling it just fine without thinking he is being "counterattacked" and is doing just fine explaining himself without your help?????

GG,
Unfortunately, rude behavior is spreading and becoming more commonplace. Not just at the range, but everywhere. We don't have a private range here so we all have to use the publice range. This is why I rarely go there on weekends or holidays. I'm sure some folks' perspectives might be altered were they to receive a hot case down their collar, but short of this they remain oblivious.

I have had bozos shoot at my target and even use my range flags for targets. Not being cynical or devilish, they simply don't know any better. Not just the black gun crowd but I agree, their ilk seem to be among the more clueless. Not generalizing, just an observation that concurs with your own.

I read enough of your posts to get your message. You went out of your way to find criticism and the best you could do was feel slighted because GG described the equipment he owned or was entrusted with. Are you really capable of believing the purpose of the post was to describe the cost and value of the guns he owned, or his client's equipment?

You find fault with GG's posts because he describes the equipment he brought to the range and downplay the disrespectfulness of the semi-auto shooter(s).

This is a real winner... buzzgun quote "If you had set up all the way to the left, this would have never happened......"

Now we all understand and thanks for pointing the obvious out to us. It was GG's fault and he got what he had coming because he didn't set up on the left-most benches. Is it also your position that no one can use a vacant bench to the right of semi-auto shooters at the gun range because they have the need to exhaust their empties on the bench to the right, above and beyond the rights of others who would like to use the vacant right side benches? Can we extend this thought process one step further... buzzgun says it's alright to clear the benches to the right for his own use by emptying his semi-auto brass onto the shooter to the right. Is that how you obtain your benches at the shooting range? Move over left of the last bench and then shower the shooter to the right with hot brass.

You seem oversensitive to being wrong. But that doesn't change the fact of the matter.

GG doesn't need my help. But I've solicited his help in the past, and he brings valued information to the forum. What you seem to bring is ATTITUDE.

Wait a minute, didn't you tell me that you had several black guns that were worth much more than my Walmart priced bench gun? Yet I didn't feel you were an elitist for saying it. You were proving your point that you spent waaayy too much for an AR and I was showing the value of property that was being damaged by guns similiar to your expensive rig.

Here's another observation:
I find it very peculiar that people who like to label others as elitists get offended so much by them. It all seems like it's rooted in insecurities of their own, otherwise, why would they care what they think of them? Or in other words, the category of "elitist" is created by these insecure people out of jealousy, disdain, or generalizing which is the very same finger they point and use to blame the "elitists" for doing! Very ironic.

Thanks Festus. I agree with you 100%. It's funny you should mention someone using your windflags for targets. I have had that happen myself. ANd guess who dunnit? You can probably guess!

I had about the same experience the other day. Had a couple of rookies out shooting prairie dogs with ARs. I was spotting for them and as usual I positioned myself to the left of the left shooter so as not to get shelled. What I didnt know was that the left shooter was not only left handed but had a Stag-Arms left port AR. All it took was the first round landing in my lap to realize my mistake . I moved in between them and spotted in safty as the Lefty was apologising for not warning me.
Ya the guys should have been more considerate but next time set up on or move to the left benches and keep an eye out for those wrong handed devils shootin left port guns :D

Let me figure this out with an analogy.

You buy a brand new pickup truck that you spend tens of thousands of dollars for, and somebody does a "burnout" in a gravel parking lot which showers your brand new truck with rocks.

If you rant about that moron you must be a "Treehugger"!

Now I get it! If you complain about someones actions and you must have some ulterior motive other than your original complaint.

This could be fun :)

So let's see NONYA complained first that you are in with Zumbo.....what is the hidden meaning here? Find the hidden meaning.

edge.

That happens (used to at least) every time we go to a zero range with our M4's. I started requesting the lane on the left end. At least the qualifying lanes are spread out enough so you don't catch your buddies brass.
At the public range I rarely visit they have a couple benches set up with plexiglass between them. If I can't get the bench on the end(it has glass on one side) I will pick one that has it. The muzzle blast from the braked EDGE can be pretty annoying to others. It beats the crap out of you in a confined space, but it's my rifle so I should take the beating...not them.
Most people don't realise they are spraying you, if you don't educate them...they will remain ignorant. I would have said something.
