6.5x300 worth getting?!?

850. It was one of my favorites to shoot and I was playing with loads a little too much love and learn. I think I'll go carbon barrel on in next.

You going to do same caliber? See that's not bad cause I don't shoot tons and have plenty others to shoot to make it last even longer.

Is gun for sale.... yes... do u have 1 more slot unfilled in the gun safe. Or can another safe be obtained. Yes..... is it a caliber you dont. Have already... yes..... see a theme here....... yes you need it.....

I have a buddy who has a 6.5x300 Weatherby with a nice Trijicon Aimpoint and like 10 boxes of ammo I believe 123 A frame it's been a while can't remember. Anyway he wants to sell me the whole rig really well priced. I don't need the gun but it's a system already and has less than 50 shots. So given this scenario is the gun worth investing even though I know it's barrel burner I have lots more than enough guns to keep me busy so likely I won't use it a much. Thoughts or feedback on this?
I had one built from a Mark V 300 Bee, I love it. My smith installed a radial muzzle break and recoil is very manageable. I rebarreled with a 26" Bartlien Heavy Sporter Contour 5R. I reloaded with 130gr Berger hunting VLDs and it is very accurate. Not shooting this frequently so I was not concerned with barrel wear. I hope this helps you, Happy Holidays to all.

I've shot a few 6.5-300s and given the choice, I would go with something different. If the deal is too good to pass up and you could resell for a profit, then its hard to pass up. If you want it to play around with and sell later, sure. Why not?

I have one. Well its at the doctors office gettin a transplant so mebbe i had one haha.
Anywaye i love it but needed a heavier bullet so its gunna be a 7mm mag now.
But mines a wby vanguard synthetic 26" I put a timney trigger and a B&C stock on it. Itll put 4 shots in .5 moa shooting 127lrx with LRT powder, cci 250s and wby or norma brass, including some necked down 300wby brass.

It shoots flat and hits hard! I would shoot mine across canyons out to 1075 yds for fun. I put 450 rounds thru it before it donated its self for the cause.

I say get it and learn it and enjoy it. Dont spend much time workin up loads, once ita dialed jus shoot it or you'll smoke the bore shootin at paper :/

I have been using the 127lrx as well only powder i could find a recepie for was us869. may i ask how much LRT you were using?

Us869 had huge es for me and my rifle didnt like it. It didnt have either the accuracy or the speed that other folks were gettin.
RL26 was accurate but slow. Same with H1000. IMR 7977. also tried Magpro, and Magnum, RL23 and 2 lbs of 869 because thats what all the articles said THE powder for it. Not in mine tho.

LRT is slower than ideal at 3385 but the accuracy is there so i kept it there and ran it. 88. Id start at 84 n work up. 3.50" coal.

Thank you so much for the info. I purchased 8ls of LRT when Retumbo and RL-26 became impossible to get and have found little to no info using it.
