Seekins Havak in 7mm Rem Mag

I have a local gunsmith. And I have several custom rifles. Im just thinking this would be a easy way to put together a light hunting rig. My current hunting rig is a Curtis Vector with Proof carbon barrel in 6.5 SAUM. But it also doubles as match rifle to with a quick barrel swap. But I'm just to the point where I want a designated hunting rig that's fairly light
It's a very good gun ! I call it Thor's Hammer !!😀

Looking for opinions on a 7 Rem Mag in the Havak. Everyone has or wants the 6.5 PRC or 300PRC. I dont want either... I really think the 7mm is the sweet spot and dont want a 28 Nos. Really wish they would chamber a 7 SAUM. Just looking for people that have one or shot one to chime in and give me real world feed back as far as accuracy and overall opinion of the rifle. Thanks
"the 7mm is the sweet spot"

I have been coming to this conclusion myself of late. It's a matter of opinion of course but the 7 mag offers quite a bit of performance with reasonable/manageable recoil. In terms of value the 7 mag just knocks it out of the park. Ammo is cheaper, the gun is cheaper, the casings are cheaper....yada yada yada! Sorry I know it doesn't answer your question specifically but I just had to get that off my chest! Cheers mate!

Do they offer in the 7WSM. Might consider if they do. A lot of the mag rounds now coming out are all non belted magnums. I'm acquiring parts now to build a 7WSM or 300WSM with a 18-20" barrel. Waiting for my Mackbros action to come in.

They do custom chambers, but if I were to go that route, I'd go 7 SAUM

7mm Mag is an outstanding killer. It's one of those cartridges that seems to kill well beyond the actual caliber if you know what I mean. For a smaller than 30 cal it is absolutely devastating on game 600y and under. Never saw animal take more than a step or two after getting hit. At 300y and under whitetail and pigs just get knocked on their butts and don't get up.

I was thinking maybe they offer in standard chambering. What does one of those run. You could build one for about 1500-1600 plus smith fees. Redhawk rifles has Douglas 7mm barrels on clearance for $260-275 now or you can get a lighter weight profile from Preferred barrel blanks for about 275.

Mackbros EVO SS magnum Short action 595 delivered
Barrel- 275-350 depending on maker
Grayboe terrain stock 350
Grayboe bottom metal 120
Grayboe 20% off coupon BF2020
TriggerTech- $150
Smith work $600-1000 depending on choices.
Fluting, cerakote, etc....

something to consider! Good luck

I am super picky if I'm going to go do a custom build and all though all those prices are good, I wouldn't pick any of those components. No offence, just a picky guy and I dont want to wait for a smith to build it. My smith is so buried with work right now it would be after next season before I'd see the build.

I own a Seekins 7mm PH2, I was like you going back and forth between the 7mm and 6.5 PRC. I ultimately went with the 7mm based on ammo availability and you can't argue the ballistics of a 7mm. My rifle shoots great with sub moa accuracy, I did have an issue with the mag release, but Seekins took care of the issue and had the rifle back in my hand in one week, they have superb customer service. I would highly recommend the 7mm, I harvested two deer this year one at 400 and the other at 480.

I should also add I'm shooting factory Hornady eldx 162's, however I will be building a load this winter.
