Introducing the Absolute Hammer

Were you able to figure out how about what it should have been at 300?

I've loaded up 39 rounds to verify zero, verify BC and take on my elk hunt. I'd like to use as a few of those as possible verifying BC.

Just shot the 123's at 500 yards. 6.5x257 71g re26. Not a good afternoon to do it. Misty rain and15 mph gusty right to left wind. But hey, it may be windy when hunting. The concern was would the 1-9 twist stabilize the 123's at distance. I think I will stick with these instead of trying the 109's. This was the last 3 I had loaded. As always, the first cold/ fowler is away from the rest. Even at 100. I think I will stamp out 100 of these and go hunting. Thanks for all the info guys.

My loads were about 1.5 inches higher (less bullet drop) than predicted @ 300. I didn't fool with adjusting BC for that close to get the predicted drop to match actual. I usually go to at least 400 before fiddling with the ballistic inputs.
You will be close with predicted bc on your first shot. Shoot further and make your corrections. It shouldnt take much

Did you zero it at 100 yards and then use your velocity and the advertised BC to get to 500 on that target?

So it looks like Hybrid 100v is going to be the powder to beat in my 6.5 PRC, got up to 3424 fps at 58.2gr before I ran out of time to test. The ES and SD are high and groups are decent but showing some vertical stinging so I'm going to bump up to 58.5 to see if that flattens it out. Will also be trying the lee FCD that I picked up to see if it makes a difference.
I can't recall if you tested RL26 or H4831, but if you did, how much faster was the H100V?

Absolute Hammer Load Data
Rev 3, 10-1-20

Well, guys and gals, you're staying busy.
You are now up to about 8 pages of loading data!
That's great! The learning curve is getting shorter and shorter for these new bullets.

It seems some are still struggling with the concept of needing much faster powders than they are used to using. Be patient and do not hesitate to ask questions or opinions before you leap out there if you're unsure. Especially if you are not accustomed to loading for wildcat cartridges! There is a tremendous wealth of knowledge here among the members. Take advantage of it.

As a general observation in looking at all the data, it appears that the 6.5mm 123 Absolute Hammers are maxing out in velocities in the 3500s range. Some are waiting to see what effect (if any) crimping may have and I am sure somebody will bring in a monster cartridge that will change this.

Till then, keep the data coming - and be careful out there! Here is the current revision (#3).

Can't seem to open the Rev. 3 version, George.

OK all. Just talked to Steve.

He has a new single thread established where all of you can go to look at the most current load data for the Absolute Hammers. It's in the Reloading Forum.

Please continue forwarding your loading data to me on This Forum. I will collect it and put it in the spreadsheet on the Reloading Forum. That should help by keeping the clutter down and keep you from having to page through all of the posts on this Forum.

Thanks; and keep the data coming!

George
Got it, George. Please disregard my prior comment as to Rev. 3 table not opening.

Yes, Steve how are the 338's coming? I am a little disappointed to read that we might have diminishing returns in the 338 Cal with the Absolute Hammer.. I have a 33 Nos that would love to kick a few out.
