I met a new buddy and fellow veteran at the range a couple weeks ago. He had just purchased a Browning A-BOLT hells Canyon in 6.5 PRC. I am going to help him get into reloading. I am wondering what kind of velocities you guys are getting with 143, 147, or 156 class bullets. Please state your barrel lengths as well. Im planning on using either H1000 or RL 26. If you have any experience with either of these in this cartridge, please provide some feedback.

Thanks.

I think he has an X-Bolt as the A-Bolt was never chambered for 6.5 PRC.

Suggest he/you sign up for gunloads.com. Lotsa data. Lotsa folks here have done with with those powders.

Just let it cool between shots.

Both fine rifles. I still miss my A-Bolt stainless 26" bbled 375 H&H. A 210 gr X (no longer made) @3000fps shot as flat as a 165 30-06 and killed like the hammer of Thor. Far better rifles than 90 degree turnbolts.

You will get around 3000 with all of them.

CA Ridgeline, both H1000 and RL26 net me around 2950fps with the 156 Bergers. 142 ABLR is getting just under 3100fps with the same powders. That load is definitely "hot" in this rifle though.

Realistic velocities without going over pressure will fall in line with berger and Hornady data. The Hornady info on line is pretty good.
My 22" proof, add 20-25fps per inch for barrel length. These are my accurate speeds with my combo's.
143- 3000
147-2900
156-2900. I get similar to the 147 due to a much short bearing surface with the 156.

29" bartlein, H1000 56gr ADG brass, CCI 250. 156 Berger - 3040fps. Haven't tried any of the other bullets.

Hot load and I get a sticky bolt every once and awhile if I run it a bit hot but otherwise awesome. There was also a node in the 2980's.

I have a custom build prc with a 26" Krieger 4 groove and I'm not pushing the 147's as fast as I can but I'm having issues with the 147's blowing up in warmer temps after like 5 shots. With 53.4g of re23, cci200, at a cbto of 2.264 I'm pushing them around 3003av or so. Now I have 2 loads and could be 3 possibly with re26, 54.7g re26 with fed210 at a 2.264"cbto is around 3015fps but with cci200's I have a load with re26 at 55.4g at 3021fps. I also have a lower node that I may visit to keep the 147's from blowing up so trial and error.

Weird. I ran 147's at 3015 and 3030 in my 6.5-284 and several thousand. No issues. Did they change the make up of the bullet? This was 8 twist.
