Don't be a poacher.

No way then you will help the dems, just another reason to take the assault rifles away! You and I both know they don't know the difference in a AR and an AK, Jesus. lol

Naw man I wouldn't waste a perfectly good SKS on them *** trespassers. I am talking hi-point 45 cal with serial numbers dremeled and all. Or maybe a toy gun from the walmarts with the little orange thing removed from end of barrel for realism!

I live in a "Good old Boy" area I grew up here went to school here worked here married a local girl. I can get on the phone and ask for a XYZ or a BYT codes for the Warden and Sheriff and know exactly where they are in 10 min or less.
I don't poach because I choose not to I don't agree with it and I think it's wrong!
Not because I'm scared...

well, my thoughts exactly...the thread went from exhorting about doing the right thing, to a discussion of getting away with doing the wrong thing.

PS
"hi-point 45 cal with serial numbers dremeled and all."
You know that doesn't work right?
Serial numbers are stamped.
The metal is fatigued much deeper than simply grinding off the surface.
You may not be able to read the numbers, but it is very simple to get them to show again.

This is from experience working in a metallurgy testing lab. FYI.

See, this is where things go south.
You want people to respect your rights, you want people to follow the law, then you say all that doesn't apply to you.
You are special and above the law.

I have a very strong steak of libertarian views myself...but you need to make a consistent stand.

Just saying...

I want to keep my 2nd amendment rights.
For example:
I WISH silencers were unrestricted.
I will work to get my representative to vote that way.
I will not use an illegal silencers in the interim...just because I could make my own simply and no one would know.

Want to keep individual sale and transfer of guns legal...don't be grinding off serial numbers...just gives the gun confiscation lobby more excuses.

Hard to tell...people get worked up about this stuff.

My son has a house in South Bend IN.
There is street parking, and people start to believe that they "own" the spots in front of their homes. They don't...its a public street.

A little thing like the actual law doesn't get in the way of them trying to "enforce" their rights onto others.

Anyway, I agree we are getting in the weeds.

Happy Hunting !

In Wyoming we used to hang horse thieves for stealing a $5 horse...we didn't have many rustlers because they were shot on site! Now the state spend millions on brand inspectors and brand inspection program, but now if u steal a whole semi load of $40,000 horses they don't confiscate your truck or take away your license and u you will likely get a liberal prosecutor and judge to fine you $500 and 6mo probation!
We need to go back to hanging rustlers and horse thieves.

It was a joke Captain America. You are on a long range hunting/shooting forum. Everyone has a very similar view on 2nd Amendment rights and very many of us are or were military so you are preaching to the choir. I would never in reality scratch serial numbers off a gun, that is stupid. I would simply buy one from one of the many gang bangers around here that is hot anyhow!

Last year some Amish guy trespassed on his neighbors property, and poached this deer shown below.Earlier that day he had taken a buck legally on his own property which is adjacent to his neighbors. He tagged it,but later shot the hog below and figured since had a tag no one would be the wiser, however the neighbor had a trail cam that caught everything on camera and got the Ohio game warden involved. They prosecuted and he paid a $25 thousand dollar fine and lost his hunting rights for years.. Good for him. Follow the law not that hard, sadly poachers abound everywhere. This deer was less than a quarter mile from my nephews farm that i often hunt,it was only seen the story goes by a few who kept their mouths sealed knowing that poachers are afoot.View attachment 161398
Poachers should lose hunting privileges for life they knew what they where doing was illegal and did it anyway no sympathy here

Well, just to be clear
In most states, game animals are public and not private property.
Trespassing in itself is not poaching.
You can certainly seek remedy for the trespassing, but the deer on your property does not "belong" to you. Poaching is defined as out of season or without lic...not by trespassing.
Not having the proper tag is where the Gent got in trouble...not that he took it on his neighbors land.

Just saying.

There are exceptions of course for private game preserves, exotic animals, game that is actually "owned" by the land owner.

But in the US, we reject in large part the concept of "reserved" game.
Trespassing and poaching are two different things but in many states trespassing with a firearm carries much harsher penalties and they should
