Big guns

I own one that I bought about 30 years ago and used it on a few trips to Africa. Shot everything from Impala Ato Cape Buffalo with it. I never used it for hunting state-side. I will say that after shooting it a while, it felt no different from my 30/06 in terms of recoil and handling... a very pleasant rifle to shoot. _It's an Interarms Whitworth Express, Mauser Rifle. Shown with a Kudu I shot with it at 300 yards using a Winchester 270gr Power Point.

I use the 375 H&H. I like the CZ's as well. I have done many good trigger jobs on them for clients. I use my Winchester 70 in 375 H&H in camp for Grizzleys when I am up in Montana or at my friend's place up just about 20 miles north outside of Wasilla, Alaska. Don't sell if you are thinking about doing that. it is an awesome cartridge even here on the North American Continent.

Thanks for the info. The only problem was the safety would not engage properly I sent it to my gunsmith and he adjusted something not sure what and now it works but you have to make sure the bolt comes back a little hard to make sure the safety button pops out
I thought it was a trigger problem but he said it wasn't
He made a custom screw on brake for it which works well

The gunsmith probably had to adjust your striker/safety engagement length. sometimes they just don't quite mate up and need a slight polishing, sanding and polishing, or deburring.
I got tired of the constant pounding on my shoulder when I fired mine.. I put a brake on mine too and now I would never give it up. it is in the same category as the 338 Win Mag. it is very versatile and the selection of projos makes it able to shoot deer all the way up to moose and grizzly bears. all you have to do is trade ammo out. I have used light slugs for cal black bears, 300's for grizz, and moose, loaded down 270 grainers for Elk in big brush country. besides my 270's, my 338's, and my 32 Win Specials, my 375 H&H is always on a hunt or in my truck. I carry 3 guns in my truck.. I always have a winchester lever gun (32 Win Special), and two bolt guns (270 or 338) and my 375 H&H. that is if I am going up for deer, elk or moose.. my hog killing threesome is 444 Marlin lever, 375 H&H, and 338 Win Mag. deer is 444 marlin (Ohio and straight wall cases only), 32 W/S, 270 Win or 270 WSM depending on terrain. solid brush (Win Lever), open fields Tikka 270 win, spot and stalk thick woods with little undergrowth Win 70 Featherweight carbine 270 win, spot and stalk with variable shots from 50 yards to 500 yards (Kimber 8400 Montana 270WSM). might get some brisk arguments on my selection but I do not care.. everyone is entitled to their opinion on calibers/cartridges. these are just mine.

Very true guns and ammo choice are very personal I think Great chatting

Just curious
Anyone here use a 375 H&H I bought one (CZ) to go to Africa but never got there unfortunately
I have 2, 375 h&h, 1, 375 rum, 1, 375 ruger. All great rounds. Your cz is a fine rifle, crf mauser. I use 270 gr barnes tsx in my winch. 375 rum. Shoots 270 barnes at 3050 fps. My 2, 375 h&h shoot about 2850 to 2900 with same bullet. 375 is a grand old round. Certainly still useful, even in us hunting. Do yourself a favor and go to africa! You wont be sorry! Beautiful country, gr8 game. Been 19 times, going again in nov. I recommend Chumlet safaris with tyrone milne as outfitter. Never let me down in many safaris! I have gr8 trophies to show for it. 8 kudu over 55 inches. Biggest is 61 1/2. A real monster!

anytime.. I like talking about hunting since I do not get to be out there as much as I want to be these days.

Question does your mod 70 375 H,&H have the same safety as my mod 70 30-06
I like that safety

I have a 375 Ruger on a Rem 700, I built it when it was cartridge was first let into the wild. I was headed to South Africa for work and was going to extend my trip by a couple weeks to get some hunting in, so I built the 375. The trip to SA got scrubbed, I have used the 375 spring bear hunting for the last couple of years, the bears have been quie impressed by the round.

For something a little different I ma getting a Sears Model 50 (actually an FN model 98 with a 3 digit serial number) bored out to 9.3 x 62 and cut the barrel back to 21". I prefer the controlled round feed and I had Jim Kobe install a 3-position safety on it. I prefer safeties that lock the bolt back instead of the locking the trigger. I recently picked up a decent piece of walnut for the stock and am looking for a duplicator to turn the walnut into a stock that has classic lines and a shadow line on the cheek piece. Basically the same lines as the stock the Model 50 came with, including a shadow line for a little accent. I am taking advice on duplicators so if you have a favorite I would appreciate the contact info.

I have a hunch the 375 Ruger will get its place taken as my black bear gun, at least in hunts in the woods. The bears will probably never know the difference between the cartridges at limited distances.

Just my thoughts/opinions,
wade
