so trying to decide on a bullet for hunting. Will be deer hunting Maybe maybe a elk but doubtful. Will keep the range at 600 or less. Most being under 400 Would you run 140 with some speed or something else. 7mm mag 24 in barrel I seem to have a hard time deciding on this. Not sure the heavy high B C bullet is what I need for this application Your thoughts. Thsnks

real world numbers from my rifle @ 6500msl- 7rm--you decide which is better for your situation
162eldm@3050fps--317y mpbr
@600Y- 2384fps/2045ft lbs- 9.6 moa drop & 1.1moa wind @5mph
143HH@3290fps- 334 mpbr
@600Y-2459fps/1960ftlbs- 8.4moa drop& 1.2 moa wind @ 5mph

so the lighter faster bullet has a better mpbr, it drops less at 600 than the heavier, has almost the exact same wind adjustment @600, but has just a bit less energy at 600

if you want more data for 400y
the 143 is going 2722fps/2402 ftlbs- 4.3moa drop & .8 moa wind @5mph
the 162 is going 2596fps/2425ft lbs- 5.0 moa drop & .7 moa wind @5mph

both will work, I would pick the more accurate of the 2---the above numbers are for my rifle in my weather conditions--your numbers may vary

I have killed white tails with the nosler bt 300 yds did Ok 200 and closer didn't do well at all. That was running about 3200 FPS Have had good luck with the nosler accubonds at all ranges Not

If i picked anything Nosler it would be the partition, shot them for years. Only time i tried the Nosler BT failed miserably in a 7mm-08 with 140's on a Deer
Really? We've used the 140 BT in our 7s and they smoke deer. My biggest buck was shot with a 140 bt. 7mm entry, quarter sized exit at 80 yards. Dressed at 218lbs. Did they blow up on you?

Yes like a varmint bullet. My hunting buddy was running the BT at about 2900 out of his 7 mm It was a hammer. Seemed like the faster velocity made them come apart. My thinking on that is if your gonna fun a mag cartridge at those velocity's (2900) buy a 280 to heck with slowing it down

They blew up, almost never even penetrated barely the hide behind the shoulder on a rib. I tracked that deer almost all day lucky there was snow on the ground.
