Bipod question

They also issued the M24 doesn't make it a bad thing.
Ha ha ha! There is a reason they use them, they are issued! We are the same way, we also break them quite regularly. They do have a good warranty and replace them. I use them a lot (also spiked feet) and they are decent.
They also Issue the
Mk 13 Mod 7. just because it's issued equipment doesn't make it inferior, it all works great... Trust me.

Hark! I believed I see a Harris on the latest issued USMC sniper rifle.

What ever works for you and your wallet along with down range performance. I haven't used those mentioned but I'm sure they will fair well. When it comes to personal preference only you know works and what doesn't. All these technical questions have many variables and the only way to cut to the chase is by trial and error. Good luck with your new buy I'm sure it will serve you well. The Best of luck!

I bought some bipods that were in a Harris package and unopened . I put them on a rifle and used them for a couple of years before the stamped metal broke so I called Harris and found out that they were not Harris bipods but that they had been seeing a lot of Chinese knockoffs in Harris packaging they will have Harris on them if they are the real deal and will not have it if they aren't buyer be aware they are out there .

Yeah, I happen to have used the M24 for several years before they issued us the M110 & M2010 and kinda like the simplicity. I now train guys on said Sniper Weapon Systems. Just because they are issued doesn't make them inferior, but just because they do issue them doesn't mean they aren't either. They just happen to not be necessarily the best. If you like them then cool, they aren't bad or I wouldn't own several. When guys say use what the pros (as in the military) use I'll tell them to look around and weigh their options. Often times we cannot and use what is given. I cannot say with any confidence that any of the rifles/optics/accessories we are issued is the best. Does it work, absolutely. Does the nut behind the trigger probably matter more, absolutely... Trust me.

I drank some Atlas koolaid a few years ago and bought one. I do like it but I don't understand why it costs so much more.

As for features beyond the Harris
1. It is able to pan side-to-side as well as tilt.
2. You are able to set the legs in a forward or rearward angle to better rest on uneven surfaces.
3. The head is able to rock forward-backward slightly. This mimics shooting off a front rest.

Those are the ones I can think of at the moment. I like the Atlas but I won't be selling my Harris.
When I bought my first nightforce scope to me it was very expensive I had a Harris bipod and when I was at the range the gun slid forward and I pulled it back to me and a leg on my Harris folded up and my gun flopped right over on my brand new $2000 plus scope that's when I decided an atlas was worth every penny

How do you like the MDT CYKE? I have one on order but it has something like a 6 week delay time.

Still undecided. I think a lot of
People spend $$$ and so they must love it because it's big money. Having used the Harris for 20 years they're easy and so trained that I'm having to learn the full aspect of its abilities. I've only used the MDT CYKE so far to zero my rifle with the leupold HD MK5 5-25 and 3.6-18. So haven't used it to full aspect at all.

My .2c is they're the way to go with the traverse and elevation options and I can shoot them low sitting and low prone. But reality is I can buy a lot of Harris bipods too. Front loading sniper rifles isn't taught anymore so breaking Harris's shouldn't be an issue. Just the lack of angles and traverse feature. The super smooth traverse and cant are nice for sure tho on the CYKE. It looks sexy and that's 90% of it....right.

Your average fella would be better spending his $ on better glass.

That's because marines are too poor to buy better gear. Just the Army's 1990 overstock they're trying to offload. Don't be mad we both know it's the truth.

Can I come hunt at your cabin in the pic?
