does anyone have one of these hells canyon xbolt long range 8 twist in a 300 win mag. If so what grain bullet are you using. What kind of muzzle velocity are you getting. And are you able to get good tight groups. Just wondering because I haven't been able to get mine to group

I have the Hells Canyon Long Range .300 win mag with an 8 twist. I'm currently running nothing but hammer bullets. I'm running the 214 hammer hunter right now at 2990 FPS. Sub MOA out to 600 yards and I'll admit I haven't shot enough in the last month. The 181 hammer hunter works well too. Keep in mind the hammers are a monolithic bullet which results in a rather long bullet even at the 181gr weight. Mine has done well with the 210 accubond LR and Berger 215 as well but I've had excellent accuracy (as low as .3 MOA) with the hammers.

With the 8 twist I'd recommend longer bullets like 200 Barnes lrx, 181,199,214 Hammer Hunters, or the 210 accubond LR for hunting. 215 bergers are many folks go to for hunting as well but I had a bad experience with them on an antelope doe which ended my use of them.

I've been trying Hornady eldx Burnt a lot of powder. What's a good start for the Berger 215 and Nosler 210

Question to ask

Is your HC brand new,,, have you double checked everything on the rifle and optic as well...

A fellow at our range showed up with a brand new HC in 30/06,,, the action screws were loose so we set them to proper torque spec...

Dang that rifle shoots good...

He replaces the trigger spring before coming to the range on his next adventure,,, now its shooting pin holes...

He tested 150's,,, 165's,,, 180's,,, and 200's,,, the best group his rifle shoots is the 165/ 168's...

Yuppers,,, a bit of prep goes alooooong ways...

Cheers from the North

I have a Browning X-Bolt Pro Long Range with a 8 twist. I have had good luck with Hornady GMX 165 @3415 FPS and the 225 ELD-M @2862 FPS both shooting at 1" moa with RL-26.

What is your bullets OAL? I just bought one and started doing some load development. I started with 181 hammer hunters but the bullet is literally smashing the powder when I press it into the casing. I'm having my Father in law help me with all this since he has 20 years experience. Can you give me a good starting point for load development? Thought about switching to a 210 or 215 bullet just because of the hammers are a monolithic and are so long.

I load the 199 hammers at mag length. 3.560" in my x bolt. It's not a compressed load but there is a slight crunch when seating but when i shake the round after loading there is still some space. I use ADG brass so maybe that makes a difference.
