6.5mm - 25cal = .007"

So...
1 - For the 25 Caliber
12+ for the 6.5

What twist is needed for the next 131 blackjack? I'm guessing they won't shoot in a 1-10".

Factory 25 cal twists make the 25s suck hind tit compared to factory 6.5 twists

What velocity can be expected with either out of 25.06?
My 264 runs 130 gr. Swift Scirocco at about 3100 to keep it sub MOA.

Man I only have about 100 rounds down my .257 Roy 28" hart barrel. 10 twist. I ha e a 6.5 creed I use now that has replace the Roy because it's lighter and shorter. I may start using my .257 more for deer around here and try and burn out that barrel a bit faster. Then a proper 1/7 would be in order.

So, question? I have a Rem 700 ADL "donor" LA for a project. The question is a 25.06 (30 degree shoulder angle) with 25.06 parent case (choices of bullets = 2), or... 6.5/06 (30 degree shoulder angle) with 280 Rem. parent case?
Either will require custom reamer & dies, so significant investment.
Thoughts?

Rich, have you done any testing with the 150 smk? The 131 spanks just about any 140 out there there's no denying. The 150 however closes that gap significantly. I'm currently in load development with the 150 smk. What I've seen is promising. Just waiting for it to not be -5 outside:eek:

The problem with the 150 smk is the twist rate required to stabilize the bullet.

What we need is for the shooting sports guys who see the 6 mm as not quite enough and the 6.5 as too much in the other direction; to pick up and start winning with the 131 Black Jacket and start demanding more and better .25" bullets.

Then I could change the barrel on my .25-06 and enjoy it even more.

Hmmm guess nothioning is stopping me from doing that now that we have the 131 BJ.

If by winning you mean benchrest competition I don't think the 257 cal will do well with current chamberings, even the 6.5 chamberings are not well suited to winning benchrest. The 6.5 creed dosent win crap for that matter either. The 6br family of cases are hard to beat past 300 yards out to 1000 yards. I shot a 300 wsm in 1000 yards for years and finally got into a 6br and 6brx. They are **** hard to beat.

I was hoping to hear more on performance from the guys who got the first batch of barrels and reamers to shoot the 131 BJ bullets.
Once I get my barrel in I'll let you know. Send me a message in about a month or so.

But current results I've found on Facebook seem to be impressive.

Sierra says 7.5 twist. So far at 100 yards the largest group has been .550(3shot). I'm just wondering if my 8 twist will stabilize it well enough to shoot any kind of distance with it.

May depend on your barrel length. I shoot the 215 Berger out of a 1 in 10 twist 28 inch rock creek and it's fine. Berger says I should use 1 in 9.
