My question is why? Why ANOTHER cartridge from Hornady that does nothing new? It's probably the same exact case capacity as 300wm but w/o a belt, and uses **** brass. The 30 nosler already has a 100+ fps leg up on both these two in a shorter oal, only downfall is the rebated rim/feeding issues that can evolve. The 300 prc does nothing for me.

Why have 28 Nosler when we have 7mm STW, a 30 Nosler when we have 300 Wby, a 7mm Saum when there is the 280AI, or a 300 Norma Mag when we have a 300 RUM....etc,... etc...???
Yes, we all know that Hornady has had issues with their brass. Norma and Bertram have had a few bad lots of brass in the past too. It would seem that Hornady is bit better now. I agree it's not Lapua quality but then price difference reflects that.
BTW-The 300 PRC has about 6% more capacity than a 300WM, with no belt, a decent neck length, less taper and a 30 degree shoulder. It should be 35-50 fps faster than the 300WM. Ballistically, very similar to a 300 Wby but just shy of the 30 Nosler.
MOST IMPORTANT!! The OP (Jeff) was looking for advice and info for the 7mm LRM. Which is a great proven design but lacks available brass. The 300 PRC case will allow another simpler option to make your own LRM brass.
That the 300 PRC does nothing for you.....adds no value to this thread. You just might just think ahead of what your typing before you go on a rant.

It's not necessarily new, it's been around for several years, but yes, it is basically reinventing the wheel. A 7mm RemMag will do everything the 7mm LRM will do, and Nosler makes brass for it all day long.

@MudRunner2005 I have a 7mm lrm, it's well designed, on paper it should do more than the junk Hornady brass will let it. It very accurate but the cartridge shows pressure immediately when pushed in the slightest You're right, the 7mag or 7blaser will push right with the lrm even with less case capacity due to poor metallurgy. I was reading the 300 prc thread over on the hide & those boys think this thing is the greatest thing since sliced bread. The 7 LRM and the 300 PRC are awesome income for those folks at Hornady. The people who buy into it will have a huge disappointment on their hands .

Then don't buy a 6.5 PRC or a 6.5 GAP 4S... Same ****, different cartridge. Proprietary to Hornady. Hornady is the only one who makes brass for them.
Hornady brass is ok for low pressure stuff like revolver ammo, and AR15 ammo where you won't be ****ed if you lose one, or your ejector chews up the rim after a couple firings... That's why I use Hornady for my .357 Mags, .44 Mag, and 6.5 Grendel. Inexpensive, lasts fairly well, and when it's done, it's cheap to buy more.
I can buy 200 brand new Hornady .357 Mag brass for around $55.00... So, that's about $0.25 each new, and i've gotten over 5 firings even with close to "full-house" loads...So in the end the brass ended up costing me about $0.05 each...Or less, if I got more firings out of them. Hard to argue with that for revolvers, since my favorite one to shoot is my 6" S&W 686.

Not completely... But it would change the crappy brass problem. The reason is, those 2 cartridge are still just a reinvention of already well-established wheels. But if those are your cartridges of choice, more power to you. But it's just frustrating when something new comes out, and just because it's new, everyone forgets what was already out there, and it immediately becomes the "newest, greatest, bestest" just because some gun editor or youtube dick said it was. It's gotten so sad, someone could basically take a .300 WinMag, and remove the belt, give it a cool new fancy name, and the no-belt supporters would proclaim from the highest mountain tops how amazing of a cartridge it is, and how it's so much better than the .300 WinMag, never once realizing that it's the same exact thing, just without a belt...
If the 7mmRM isn't enough for you, buy a .28 Nosler. It already has good Nosler brass, and has become quite commonplace for both factory ammo and brass at local stores.
I like the .28 Nosler, and I've been a hardcore 7mm STW shooter for over 16 years. Still have 2 of them, and won't ever NOT have at least one in the safe. But the factory offered mag lengths do offer a bit of limitation to the cartridge's abilities, and that's where I have come to like the .28 Nosler design. It's basically 7mm STW performance in a shorter, fatter package that fits in a factory mag box better.
Just my personal opinion.

We're all on the edge of our seats waiting for quality brass , until then we'll keep shooting quality brass that's readily available in the rifles we already own .

It's sad, but true, the LRM is dead.... The 7mm/300WM makes just too much sense for a wildcat and the 28 Nosler fills that niche perfectly for a ELR hunting rig in 7mm.
Some people don't like the rebated rim, but seriously, has anyone had an issue because of it??

Never had a problem with the rebated rim on the .375 Ruger or 6.5LRM. Caveat all three of my rifles shooting this parent case are control round feed M70's and M77's.
