22-284 Winchester: Life At 40X

Yessir i really like the 75 amax just really wanted to shoot the big bad 90 berger but ill just be happy with the 75 amax for now. I have a lilja 7 twist blank to use later anyway. Shoulda just went with lija the first time to i guess. But this bartlein does shoot the 75 amax very well. Shot a 3 shot group thats a little bit smaller than 2" at 486 yards.

Crap that's nice!

Thank you very much for your info! Love the ackley chamberings. Ive got over 2k rds throough a 22-250ai barrel i had before it really started scattering. I was easy on it for the most part also. It was a 1-14 twist also which makes a difference compared to a fast twist to i think. Just built a 9 twist 22-250ai shooting the 53 vmax at just under 4100. Thats a laser beam and alot of fun on pdogs.

4,100 That's awesome!

I've built two 22 Creedmoors. I had the latest reamer made for the 82 grain Bergers. It's running those at 3500. I've shot two groups at 600. One was 2.5" and the other 2.75". I mostly shoot steel, though.

I'll always have a 22 Creedmoor around.

I necked it down in two steps with different bushings but one step would be just fine. I don't use the expander ball so two steps seemed better.

Anybody tried the 90gr Bergers in this configuration? Seems like they'd be pretty epic on varmints out to quite a distance...

IMHO the Creed was actually designed to give ME a case to build a 22 on. Done the 243, 284, WSSM and 06. All too much capacity. The Creed or Lapua 47 is like a siren song for a big 22.

Not trying to be stand offish at all but, aint the 22 creed pretty much exactly the same as a 22-250AI then? I have had alot of 22-250ai and is probably my most favorite caliber but am always looking for something bigger and better. Also just traded into a 6.5x47 lapua so will have lots of brass to convert into a 22x47 lapua. So anyone with info on that would be greatly appreciated!

Creed SHOULD have about 5-7gr more capacity than a 250AI. The 47 right at 3-5 BUT small flash hole and stupid tough brass. If you had a bunch of 250 Lapua brass it might not make sense. Barring that it would seem to. In THEORY the case should be more EFFICIENT but I take the short fat efficiency argument with a grain or two of salt personally.

I've been taking Lapua 22-250 brass and loading it, as is, and firing it in the 22 Creed. R26 fills the case at 43 grains, I think, and the 22 Creed will take over 48 grains.

I've never owned a 22-250 but the Creed will shoot an 82 grain bullet at 3500 fps. I'm not aware that a 22-250AI will fire that big of a bullet that fast.
