Absolutely not normal! Demand an immediate replacement box from Hornady. I'm sure they will get you fixed up. A group of pictures like this on the internet could require some damage control if not managed correctly.

Which is exactly why I hate these posts.

longranger, you hate my post because,,,,,,?

I called hornady, talked to tech support, i explain the issue. the guy tells me i need to send an email via "webbox" on their website. I'm on the website, he's on the website and neither one of us can find it. i asked him if i could just email him. he says ok but says it might take a week or so for him to look at it. i finally fill out one of those online forms on their website that supposedly goes to someone at hornady but you can't attach any pictures. still haven't heard back.

quite frankly, i think i have somewhat of a responsibility to the general shooting public to let them know about defective ammo if hornady can't bother with it.

but if you want to hate my post, so be it.

I mispoke, I don't necessarily hate your post. I hate that the general public's more often than not first response to an issue is to put it on the internet.

well I tried to contact them first and will still try if they respond.

what do you think happened to that cartridge?

It looks to me like a defective case slipped through. This stuff happens. Ever looked closely at the cases in a bag of Winchester brass?

tag. I'm interested if you ever get a response from Hornady. With a problem this blatant, this sure sounds like awful customer service...

Welcome to the new age of customer service. I have no doubts they would fix it but the the way customer service is now who knows. It should be easy to fix this stuff. Like other said it happens but the fact they make it harder to get a replacement than to buy a new one makes me not want to by from them.

Did you try getting it replaced where you bought it? Hard to believe Cabela's, Bass Pro, or Walmart would not give you your money back on the whole box. If you bought it there.

You also might just try being a squeaky wheel with Hornady. That's probably what I would do. Just keep calling until you get the problem fixed!

so they let a malformed brass out.... pout a little more??? I've seen it from most brass makers I've bought brass from.

It will shoot just fine but not reload... It may or not be "match grade" but why the heck are you shooting factory ammo if you want match grade. Check the neck dimensions and run out if you are scared it won't fall into the group. If the round checks out, shoot it.
