Help with AR15 Varmint Build

How does that L.W. Barrel shoot?

The barrel exceeded all of my expectations! (So much so that I wished I would have put another L.W. barrel on my 16" build instead of the JP Enterprises stainless match grade barrel). It has grouped exceptionally well with everything I have shot through is so far with the one exception of the Silver State Armory 5.56 NATO PPT Bonded Solid Base 64 Grain stuff I shot through it over the weekend. The best 5 shot group I was able to get with that stuff was 1".

I just bought one of the Lother Walther 20" VarTac barrel and assembled it Thursday I shot it quit a bit this weekend load testing trying to find that sweet spot mine likes a .080 or so jump to the lands and was shooting 53gr vmax loaded to 2.27 col ( I use ASC stainless mags and can load to 2.300 and still use a magazine) with 23 gr IMR 8208 XBR CCI 400 primers shot several 5 shot groups in the 1/2" size or slightly larger at 100 yards before I ran out of 53 gr bullets. As a side note I have so far been happy with the new barrel custumor service at Lother Walther was bit interesting I got many "it's shipping next week" lines of BS from them after waiting 9 weeks. I don't think CS even knows what the shop guys are doing at that place I would have been good if I was told from the start that the barrels where not in stock and they needed to make a production run.

Well so far I have a complete 7075 lower, milspec buffer tube with spikes t2 buffer, magpul SPR butstock and an Aero Precision 7075 upper. Planning on getting a Rainier Arms Raptor charging handle and a seekins precision low mass BCG soon. Then Ill be looking at an Odin works keymod handguard, jp adjustable gas block, white oak armament 18"SPR barrel and a epsilon 556 muzzle break. along with all the misc parts.

If you want to save some money look at this one.

AR 15 & AR 10 guys you might want to wait before buying one of the expensive ones. Someone has them for $51.00.

You will be very happy with your WOA barrel. The target below was with my WOA fluted 18" varmint upper.

The gas port size in the barrel you select will determine your port pressure

My 18" Douglas uses a .102" gas port (crane standard) with damaged Ind. rifle length gas tube. I use the Vltor EMOD A5 extension and run a TUBBs flat wire rifle buffer spring with Vltor A5 buffer, better relibilty than the Carbine extension

If I were running a carbine extension I would use Damaged Ind H6 buffer same as in the ARMY conversion Kit with the 20 in.

Suggest 1-7 twist in barrel which works great with the 75/77 gr pills

I built my first AR a couple years ago I went with RRA 16" 1/9 for 55 grain Sierra game kings and h335 and I'm very happy with it . i put up quite a bit of fur up and it seems to do the job really well they use Wilson barrels they are good barrels I'm sure there are better but it works great for me . I also put a hogue front end and hogue pistol grip it's really comfortable for hunting anyway there isa couple ideas for you hope it's useful . Good luck and have fun

You won't regret it if you go with a 6.8mm Spc II caliber.

My varmint getter had a 6.8mm Spc II caliber. 18" super match AR Performance barrel. 1:12 twist 3 groove.

For my money, Harrison builds some of the best barrels in the business.
AR Performance, Made in USA, 5.56, 6.8spc, barrels, bolts and muzzle devices

It's a hard hitter out to 500 yards with Speer 90gr TNT bullets, and a load of 29.5 gr of RL-7.

Here's a pic of my baby . . .

Not sure if I want to go to a 6.8. In thinking 223 for its availability and if I need something more i have a 308 and looks like ill be getting my oldest daughter a 243 this summer for her birthday.

Well I have everything for my build now except my barrel and break. So I wanted to ask peoples thoughts on the new 25-45 sharps?
