Hornady ELD-X Official Thread

The links didnt work for me either. Were they Hornady factory rounds (looked like they where doing both factory rounds and selling just bullets)? I might just buy some of the factory rounds, see how they shoot and if they shoot great stick with it as I havent bought my reloading stuff yet. If not great use them as a starting point for reloads.

They were handloads by a gunsmith testing bullets for Hornady, next test will be with the 220 gr ELD-X ........

forgot to mention that you have to have a Facebook account and the Wildcat Cartridges and Custom Rifles group is closed ... meaning you have to join ...

I'm definitely not as educated as a lot of people on here but couldn't jacket material differences play a role in barrel friction, and possibly counteract, or make worse bearing surface friction.

Long Range Pursuit taking Hornady reps on an antelope hunt after their long range shooting class...pretty much certain they are testing the ELD-X bullet if you listen to them talk about it. They say they pretty much are doing this hunt for a bullet test. They show kills at 850 yds @ 7:20, 500 yds @ 14:10, and 650 yds @ 19:00. Using 300 win. mag, they don't say any other info like bullet weight, speed, ect. They do however show entrance and exit wounds on antelope.

Yes sir they can! Look at the Barnes bullets trying to reduce friction and copper build up with their little grooves they cut into their bullets. Different metals have different qualities. more malleable they are, friction, coatings, etc all play a role.

Any news as to when they are available? When I called Hornady they said 2016...

Bumr I have 400 on order thru Midway. If gunwerks gets some and is selling them I will run over and grab them there. They are like 45min away.gun)

I called Midway the other day. The date Hornady told them was the 28th or whatever they have listed as the backorder date. Hornady told me January 2016. We will see who's right soon enough I guess.
