Will a VLD seating stem make a difference in seating depth consistency.

I pulled the ELDX stem and placed it over a bullet it sits just about right on the ogive. Then I measured 3 bullets and stem over them 2 were the same length 1 was not. That 1 was .005 longer. It was the same when measured with the standard stem. I could see though how the standard stem was putting the ring just below the plastic tip. The for kicks I set the 212 stem over a 215 Berger and a 168 ELDM. With those bullets the 212 stem fit real nice just like on the 212 ELDX it was designed for.
