Dear Ya'll,

putting together a 1/8 twist 300 win on factory savage action. I believe max COAL to fit in the center feed mag is 3.48"
1/8 should be able to handle most 30 cal hammers except the heaviest.
Which weight 30 cal hammer would you recommend for this COAL? I don't want to lose too much powder capacity.
Thanks in advance

You have enough twist, uncertain about magazine. The mono's are longer, and could put you into single loading, or cramping powder space. the 214 is 1.765" long, I think you will end up in the 166-181 weight class.

Give them a call if Steve doesn't see this and chime in.

Her is my savage in a HS precision with a 3.85 accurate mag

I've measured 5 different Savage belted mag magazines, and they all measure exactly 3.5", and I've had no issues running 3.495" COAL. Not a big difference from your numbers, but figured I'd throw it out there.
