Which custom dies? CH4D isnt getting it done

What other options are out there? I know hornady and redding do custom dies. Any reviews on either? I currently use all RCBS stuff with a rock chucker press. I'll go as far as buying a different press if I have to!

I sent 4 fired cases to CH4D in January to have customs made for my 338/408ct improved. I STILL have not received my dies and I haven't been able to contact them either. I've called multiple times and left a few messages and still nothing.

I guess I'll eat those cases that are there which isn't a big deal but the principal is they are $2 or $3 a pop(408CT parent case) and I don't have but a couple more fired cases. I can use a similar set of dies to get it close enough to fire form but I'de rather not. I've got plenty cheytac brass just no dies. I bought the rifle and it came with loaded rounds and some fired cases. There were no dies in the beginning I take it they were fire formed and just neck sized by the builder. But I got the rifle for a less than you can buy the action and trigger for so I can't complain about not having dies. I also received 100peices of CT brass, and 100 265gr hensons too so I got a deal.

I have heard these guys to a great job at a reasonable time frame Whidden Gunworks

when I had some custom dies mad by ch4d they took 8-10 months and i don't like how light my neck tension is with them so i had to modify a bushing die so i can get a bit more neck tension. needless to say i won't use them again.

If you call CH between 1-3pm, you will talk to Beth. CH is a VERY small operation due to the threat of Obamacare, and they are backlogged with work.

I already know I'll be hung by my thumbs for this post, but looking at what your trying to size, the dies may not be all the issue. Find a .0005" indicator and mount it on top the press to check for die flex in the threads. Then check to see if the press is flexing under heavy pressure. A thousandth there will usually give you two thousandths with a loaded round. After all that is done, do the samething with the shell holder to see if it's moving. If it is, it may need realigning with the die. If you see a problem try loosening the jam nut on the die slightly and loosen the shell holder at the same time. Size an unsized case, and retighten the jam nut and the shell holder to see if this helps you while still under pressure. Sometimes it works and other times it doesn't. But it's cheap.

I don't have any dies. I guess its the downside to having a one off wildcat. Which is unfortunately my first. I'm not in a great rush but I would like a little better customer service. I'm gunna try to call again today between 1-3pm like stated above. I understand that they are a small company and probably over ran with work right now. I understand staying busy but it seems like nobody is ever there.

If I don't hear anything today I'm gunna go ahead and send my spunt cases to Neil Jones. We already spoke over email and he was very fast to respond. I like that at least.

got a reply from ch4D yesterday and they CLAIM that my dies are made built and simply waiting on heat treating and they will be done and shipped to me.

I also heard that when i had some ordered, but what they don't tell you is they are waiting on a large batch to get treated and it will be 1-3 months before they will get them back.
