Sounds like you need the Savage then. 1:10 standard on all their .308 caliber rifles. That was a major deciding factor when buying mine. To be honest though, 1:12 is really all you need for a .308 Winny. You get much above 190grn bullets and you are really pushing its abilities with heavier pills.

I would recommend the Savage, I have 4 (& 3 remmys), the accu-trigger is sweet, but it does take some getting used to. The accu-stock should eliminate the need for an aftermarket setup, one of my long range shooting partners shoots the Savage in .308 & HOLY COW will that thing shoot, bug hole 5 shot groups with Federal Gold Medal Match ammo. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my remmys but out of the box performance goes to the Savage.
