What scope for lightweight 300 NM

I'm putting a lightweight 300 NM together and the action I chose has integral mounts that unfortunately aren't going to work with my March FX 4.5-28..
I'm wanting a comparable optic in both weight, price, and durability/image quality.

Ultrashort scopes are out, as is the NX8 (I've owned one and hated it).
I'm considering a mk5 5-25 or possibly the 3.6-18, but I'm afraid it'll be a downgrade .
Any other good sub 30 oz options?

I hear good things but do they make a scope in the 26-29 oz range?
I have one of these (ZCO 4-20) and i will say it is a bad *** unit .. probably one of the best scopes on the market .. but **** they are HUGE AND HEAVY .. i took it off and threw an nx8 on my primary rifle!! just to fricken heavy as hell

the march 2.5-25x52 is a great little scope.

what action are you using that won't allow for that scope to mount up .. curious

Post #27 shows the issue;

Yeah I'm trying to keep it reasonably packable for our Idaho elk terrain.
It's the Bat Vesper action, I put the scope on and it fits but I'm pretty sure it's going to be too far forward for good eye relief.

Hows the eye box etc on the 2.5-25?

I dont believe its a bad as most make it out to be ..

The 42 I run a lot on big stuff and its just as good as the 52 in my opinion

Here's how she mounts up, not terrible but I'm pretty sure it was about an 1" further back on my last rifle.
Really I need the stock to drop it into, it'll be 4 months waiting for my McMillan game warden 2.0

If you'd like options to keep your current scope and use it:

Spuhr has a cantilever ring set that I used to get an ultra short scope (one of the shortest out there: Eotech VUDU 5-25) to work on a long action with the split rail like you have. If your action doesn't have MOA built in, this option has drawbacks. 34mm Rings available.

Another option is the SAKO S20 Scope mount (0 MOA or 20 MOA). It lets you set the rings in (about the 0:50 mark in the video). Works on picatinny rails. 34mm Rings available.
