What oil is best for inside of barrels after a cleaning?

Over 55 years of reloading and shooting, I have used quite a few lubricants.

So far, IMO, Slip 2000 Gun Lube is the best. Again, in my opinion, FWIW.

Hornady One Shot - among best rust protection & lubrication. After cleaning bore, a patch sprayed with One Shot always removes more black stuff.

Based on that experiment, I'd say that Frog Lube was #1 overall.

If you are just storing,, use any oil that won't gum up, or ooze out, after time.
If you are cleaning for a new shoot, I recommend an automotive "Break-in" oil that is high in Zinc(ZDDP) to help reduce copper fouling.

Tsi-301 is an amazing oil. For years I've used nothing more than some synthetic motor oil.

I have done this for years and it works great.

I have used many different oils over the years and have found that they all have prevented rusting. I've never once had a rusty barrel after using any oil including even the inexpensive old stand-bys like Hoppe's or Rem Oil. I always scope my barrels before I shoot them and after I clean them - some rifles have not only gone months but a couple years without being fired. The oils I use most now are KG-4 and Montana X-treme but also have Lucas and use that too. Short answer - what ever oil is on my bench at any time. I've not noticed any difference between any of these for just protecting barrels when not in use.

Has anybody tried these?
