What hammer for 300wsm

I ran the 124 and I would not have hesitated to take it Elk Hunting, With that being said I think the 166HH will fit the bill for what your wanting

That was/is quite honestly the way I am leaning. Figuring re16 or h4350 should do about all I need and stay temp stable for the varying temps I'll be hunting in.

The 174 Hunter was designed for the Short Mags to fit and feed better. I'll be trying out the 162 gr Absolute after my mule deer hunt in 2 weeks. I have a Sako with a 1:11 twist, so I need to go this route. The suggested twist rates do matter.

Any information to report back with? I am thinking of going Hammer in my 300 WSM.
I went with re16 and the 174. It topped out around 3150 in a 26 inch barrel. Accuracy was around .5 moa but never got a chance to stretch it out because I sold the rifle. Now I'm playing with the 166 in a 300wm at 3400.

Wow that's a big jump, about 200 fps. You must be getting a longer 2000 fps range with that.

I'm still in development right now but everything I ran had the 166 winning over the 174 or 181 for my normal hunting ranges. If it all holds up it should be a perfect do all hunting load for anywhere I will go.

Just an FYI here, The twist rate on the .308 181 has been changed to 1-9.5
The new 180 is the 1-10 twist.

I absolutely love the 181 Hammer Hunters!
I use 4831SC and I get my very best accuracy with this paring . Two thumbs up from me!
I tried H4831SC with the 180HH but was getting pretty compressed loads and got some pressure signs before passing 2800fs. What charge weight are you using?
